This is the second time we have stayed at Casa Maresca with Paul and Lucia. We previously stayed in 2010 for 8 days and this time we were fortunate enough to be able to enjoy 17 days there. This time we chose to stay in one of the rooms at the top with a small balcony at the front and a large vine covered terrace at the side.
We found it to be very, very private with your own locked gate and only 4 stairs to climb up to the room. We love to stay at Casa Maresca as it is so relaxing and quiet but so conveniently located near about 7 restaurants on the main road down to the town of Positano.
The bus stop is very close by for the internal bus. Great for jumping on to get to the top of the hill to catch the Sita bus to Sorrento or Amalfi (get a timetable from Lucia) or just for getting home from the square in the afternoon after a full day out.
There is also a grocery store not too far down the hill that sells everything including wine and deli items. Paul also told us that they would deliver 12 bottoles of water or more up to Casa Maresca if we tipped the guy who carried it up. We found this wonderful, as we drink about 3 or 4 large bottles of water a day, so over 17 days that would have been a lot of water to carry back to Casa Maresca. Great tip Paul and the guy who carried the shopping for us really earned his money.
As usual the rooms were spotlessly clean and the floor sparkles. We also find the beds and pillows so comfortable. As our unit was at the top we were able to sleep at night with just the screen doors closed and it was lovely and cool. There was a heat wave while we were there but we didnt need to use the airconditioning.
We had an emergency one night where we urgently needed the ambulance and Lucia reacted quickly (luckily they are 5 mins walk away) and helped us out so much. Thank you Lucia.
There was a mess to clean up afterwards as my husband had broken a vein and Lucia kindly did it without a complaint.
As usual Paul, carried our luggage and also booked some restaurants for us and gave us advice about bus times etc.
You could not ask for more reasonably priced accomadation in Positano with a great view and location.
We enjoyed it so much we tried to stay for another 2 weeks but unfortunately left our decision too late and could not organise flights etc in time.
There is WiFi but only on the terrace, but that didnt cause any problems for us as the connection was quite good.
Paul also booked a very reasonably priced transfer to Naples station for us.
Thank you again Paul and Lucia we wish you all the best for Xmas and you can be sure we will return again and again.
