“Holiday in Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

At the end of June this year I stayed for the fourth time at Praiano in the Hotel Villa Bellavista with the family Rispoli.
I travel alone and whenever I arrive there I am given a very warm welcome.
They are extremely kind and affectionate in every respect and make my holiday as pleasant as possible.
Also last time I had a room with a fantastic view, the food was absolutely delicious, in short a perfect holiday.

The hotel is situated absolutely quiet overlooking the coast.

In every travel folder there is a reference to the stairs between the hotel and the sea. So it is hard to understand that some people complain about this.

I find the guests`evaluation of the mother of the family very sad and in-
appropriate. Unfortunately she has seriously fallen ill and is now being cared for very lovingly and affectionately by the family.

We booked the Bellavista for 7 nights in early May for what was meant to be a relaxing, restful, romantic end to our 5 week European holiday!

Instead, what we got - on arrival after travelling from Tuscany & struggling with luggage down the steps and pathway to the hotel - was to be greeted (or NOT) by a family screaming match! No "Hello, how are you? Welcome to our Hotel" or even an apologetic acknowledgement! Gobsmacked, we reluctantly checked in and were taken to our room in a curt & disengaged manner.

Our room, whilst clean & comfortable with spectacular views would have been great if it weren't for the echoing noise of the regular family arguments and crying of an elderly lady who, it seemed, lived at the end of the hallway and was spoken to in the most appalling manner by the members of the family. And, we would have been able to rest easier if it weren't for the scraping of chairs & tables on the floor above us, from the dining room at breakfast each morning.

Though Breakfast & the Coffee was good, offering outdoor or indoor seating, it was tough to see a friendly or smiling face from the staff (family- a father, a son & two daughters - Italian & German speaking).

Desperate to move elsewhere, we suffered 5 (too many) of our 7 nights then left to move elsewhere, which was a blessing! We just wished we'd left sooner!

Room Tip: If you want peace & quiet, romance and friendliness - don't stay here!

We have booked this hotel for a summer vacation and had very bad experience with the situation of it first of all. It is NOT in Positano, but in Praiano, and there are around 50 steep stairs to reach it! Not suitable for families with children!
We wanted to cancel it for the rest of our stay even before sleeping a night in it, and the receptionists didnt want to refund us anything. We went to a more suitable hotel afterwards, and in Bellavista even dared to give us excuses like: the owner is in hospital and similar... for 12 days long!
There is no parking for this hotel!

We found the Bellavista Hotel to be in a stunning location overlooking the Amalfi Coast, although there are 30 to 40 steps on a small path from the main road down (and of course back up again) to reach the hotel, If you are reasonable healthy this is not a problem. The room was very clean and comfortable with a small balcony overlooking the Amalfi Coast (Make sure you get a room with balcony and sea view). The people that ran the hotel were friendly and helpful when asked and the food although basic was well cooked and presented. I can recommend this Hotel to anyone wanting to stay in this area of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast.

Stayed here with a friend on a budget and was pleasantly surprised. The owner (male) is lovely, speaking German always helps a little. The views were amazing, an old Italian man who lived below used to throw fruit at us on our balcony each day (his misguided idea of flirting) which was sweet.

There were some horrific rows going on (I think between the owner and his wife) that were loud and intrusive and lasted the whole week we were there. She was pretty rude to us and snapped or walked off whenever we asked her anything.

Only other downside was the mozzies.

This was my first visit to this area of Italy. I am 60 years old and my first time to travel alone. I was greeted warmly by Sonia and Adele, owners and sisters. My room was clean, pretty and comfortable. The view from my private terrace was amazing, with an unobstructed view of the crashing sea and Capri, not to mention the beautiful gardens. I was lulled to sleep each night by the sea far below. The food was delicious, with hearty portions. The service was 5Star, even to finding just the right English language novel for lazy day reading! The sunsets were unequaled! With buses stopping right in front of the hotel and running every 30 minutes up and down the coast, there was no need for any other form of transportation. Great tips on sites to see were offered by the sisters. Being a very frugal person, I found Villa Bellavista is a great value for my money. God willing, I will return to this enchanting Villa Bellavista!!! LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: I think any room would be more than suitable!

Great location with breathtaking view of the Amalfi Coast to Capri. Very friendly hotel team that gave us useful tips for hikes and discovering the region. Perfect situation for hikes, beaches at walking distance, bus stop and local shops at proximity.
