“Great value for the area and great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

The staff here are very friendly and helpful. The drinks and breakfast are cheap and delicious. Great verandah with heaps of backpackers. Loud music at night and cheap cocktails. Close to main beach, they even booked out blue grotto tour for us :) great service, great value for money

I stayed for 3 nights and absolutely loved the place, firstly Peter, Christiana, Tom and Catelyn were amazing really accommodating and made some of the best dinners I had in Italy for only 5 euros the lemon cake was the highlight.

Positano is an amazing place with beautiful beaches and close to the path of the gods, which I missed out on because I partied too much so just stuck to the beach and the hostels terrace.

I'd recommend staying over the weekend as they arrange club nights with free bus travel to Africana for only 15 euros was an amazing nightclub built into a cave and easily on par with the clubs in Ibiza.

Room Tip: If you want a early night book a room to the rear as the terrace gets lively on a night

We stayed three nights here and it has been the best hostel since being in Europe.

The staff are very helpful and caring.

There are cheap drinks and many breakfast options available including savoury which is rare in Italy and France.

The vibe was great, the cleaner was thorough and the view is also amazing!

Will go straight back the Brikette next time.

My stay at Ostello Brikette was the highlight of my 3-week trip to Europe. It`s located right down the road from a SITA bus stop and a Positano Interno bus stop, which makes it very easy to travel around the Amalfi Coast and Positano. The rooms are spacious and clean and the beds are quite comfortable. There is no free breakfast, but they offer nice options cooked by the staff for 2-5 euros. The staff also frequently cooks dinners for 5 euros, which is great if you`re watching your spending.

But the view is by far the best part of this already-great hostel. When you walk in the front door you end up in a common area with huge windows along one wall. The view of Positano and the mountains is simply magnificent. A sliding glass door leads you onto the outdoor patio where there are plenty of chairs and tables for eating, socializing, or just relaxing. I could have sat there for hours just admiring the view.

If you pay a few euros more for a deluxe room, you also get your own patio above the common one. It`s also a great place to sit if you want something more private.

One thing to keep in mind though is that this hostel does not have computers for use. There is free wifi in the common area if you bring your own computer. The showers can also be a bit finicky: they can be cold or hot or in-between, seemingly at random. Other than those two things, this hostel could not be any better. I would highly recommend Ostello Brikette if you`re planning to travel on the Amalfi Coast.

Room Tip: Go with a deluxe room if at all possible. It`s only a few euros more for a balcony with an incredibl...

I had an amazing stay at Hostel Brikette, in fact, I booked an extra night at the end of my stay. After reading some of the harsh reviews I was a bit apprehensive, but quickly realized that all bad reviews seem to be quite old. My girlfriend and I originally had a larger room with more beds, shared bath and no balcony booked. Upon arrival Peter told us that another room was available, and after a quick look we upgraded for 2 euro more per night. If you have the option choose a room with a balcony because the views are amazing!
On our first night at the Hostel we met some of the other guests on the patio, who we ended up sharing a few bottles of wine and a nice dinner with. The social atmosphere was great and very inviting. Don't be shy to grab a few drinks (very cheap) and share a glass of wine with some of the other guests.
Peter and Christian (sp? sorry) were incredibly friendly and helpful. By the second day they remember us by name and seemed genuinely interested in how our days went. The breakfast was hardy and great at a very reasonable price.
The only drawback was that the hostel was about a 10-15 minute trek down the stairs to the beach and about 15-20 on the way back. You will get a workout in but that is the nature of the hilled city. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms are a must. The 10 bed mixed dorm on the main floor can get quite loud at night.

I have been to several hotels/hostels/B&Bs in the last month of my Eurotrip and Hostel Brikette was by far my favorite.
As soon as my friend and I arrived, we were greeted by a very helpful man at reception who gave us the inside scoop on all of the tourist stuff on the coast.
The wifi was only available in common areas which I initially thought was not desirable but I came to really like it because everyone gathered at night and it was a great opportunity to meet people. They also sold inexpensive dinner/drink options.
The view on the balcony was absolutely breath taking. I could hardly believe that I was staying in such a nice place with such nice people for such a small price. I would recommend this to anyone over the age of 16!

So glad that you enjoyed your stay. We are lucky to have such great guests stay with us, and be able to build the sort of atmosphere that you experienced - having the wifi in a common area does help bring people together, as you mention. All the best for your future travels.

Was the absolute perfect spot to stay in! The view is spectacular!...Felt more like a resort than a hostel! The hosts created a great atmosphere, extremely helpful, with home cooked meals. The place is spotless clean. With absolutely no flaws. I would reccommend this place to anyone. Whether your a single backpacker or a couple looking for a nice getaway! I can't wait to return!
