“wow!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

We spent 6 nights in Positano and had some excellent meals. We went to C'era una Volta on our last night and this was definitely by far our favorite. We were so happy to have chosen it, as a spectacular ending to an awesome vacation. Beyond the warm and personable service, gorgeous view, the meal was fantastic from beginning to end, The waiters recommendations were spot on, and the red snapper was truly delicious as promised.

“Inexpensive deliciousness!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

We picked this restaurant on a trip advisor recommendation and weren't disappointed. The restaurant itself wasn't anything fancy and the view isn't anything spectacular - BUT... The food was absolutely delicious and very very cheap (especially for positano!). We had two entrees, a pizza, two mains, a dessert, a glass of the house wine (lovely!) and a peroni and the bill came to €53. They picked us up and returned us to our hotel just to make things even easier and convenient. Staff are friendly and make good recommendations. C'era una Volta comes highly recommended for anyone after good food without unnecessary frills and at a very reasonable price.

“Very good food”

Local taverna style uphill Positano. Not too much of an atmosphere (nobody singing) but very good food and good service, with a nice view.

“Super good value first night dinner in Positano!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013 via mobile

Left it to wifey to book this one and it exceeded my expectations.

The courtesy car picked us up on time from our charming pensione Residence Alcione in 'downtown' Positano. We arrived to a genuinely warm welcome and were shown a table on the terrace overlooking the steep hillside. The tables were lit with small swinging coloured lanterns.

It wasn't long before our waiter, he affable Federico, gave us a run down of the menu and I opted for his recommendations - stuffed lightly fried zucchini florets as a starter and simple (and simply divine) seared tuna garnished with some leaves and the tastiest of tomatoes as a main. Wifey had a rocket and tomato salad followed by a mixed fish grill which she pronounced "fresh, delicious and just the right amount of garlic". We were recommended a local white wine (name escapes me but the label was black!) in place of our default position of Pinot Grigio and it was not to disappoint - fragrant but stony dry with a good finish for a wine in this price range.

To end, we shared a warm chocolate fondant which delivered just the right combination of chocolate sponge with a gooey chocolate centre - not too sweet and not too bitter. All for 60€ excluding service.

Feeling a little frisky after such a enjoyable meal we declined the lift back and did the half hour walk down to Positano under a full moon and starlit sky.

A great start to our second honeymoon!
