We spent three nights at Casa Albertina and it was everything we had hoped for. The first glimpse of the magnificent view from our terrace took our breath away. We left the french doors wide open in the evening, falling asleep to the sound of the Mediterrean washing ashore (ok-after the beach front karaoke bars quieted down).

Our second floor room was simple but very clean. The hotel staff was warm and helpful. Mr. Lorenzo Cinque,a second generation owner/operator was a particular delight.

The breakfasts, which were included in the room price were served on the beautiful terrace and were fine and what we expected.

Yes, there are plenty of steps to climb to get to this little gem of a hideaway, but that's part of the charm of Positano.

I booked 4 rooms for June, 2007. After contacting many hotels in Positano, I was getting discouraged as to whether I could find 4 rooms at the same hotel. My sons stayed at Hotel Poseidon on their respective honeymoons & I knew it was fabulous, but members of our group could not afford the price or the 2 night minimum (as many other hotels required.) I contacted Lorenzo, general manager, at Albergo Casa Albertina by email & was pleased with the price and availability - but I was not expecting the same fabulous views and luxury of the rooms my sons had experienced at the Poseidon. We were blown away when we arrived. Three rooms were on the third floor with small but nice balconies; ours was on the first with a balcony big enough for all of us to congregate on - all with a breathtaking view. When we met Lorenzo after returning from dinner that night, I told him of a CD I'd heard at the restaurant - only had a name. He spontaneously offered to find a copy of the CD before we left the following morning. Breakfast on the beautiful terrace was wonderful, with a friendly server bringing us breads, cheeses, meats, juice, coffee, etc. & more if you asked for it.

The hotel is less than 100 yards from the Poseidon, but you must walk up several flights to reach the lobby. We had a parking space reserved (20 Euro per car) but should have asked for more specific information because we could have dropped off the luggage first & then drove back around through town to park - instead we drug luggage down the street. Also, they will deliver the car to the hotel upon departure. The price was incredible - 230 Euros a night, and we were offered an 8% discount for paying in cash. A shopowner in town asked where our sons had stayed & where we were staying; when we told him, his remark was, "The Poseidon is a beautiful hotel, but Casa Albertina is like staying at someone's villa." We couldn't agree more. The next time we visit Positano, I won't have to shop around; we'll definitely return to Casa Albertina.

The view is amazing! But you can only get it if you stay in accommodations located up the steep hills of Positano and this is where Casa Albertina is. Don't be afraid of the steps, it takes 5-10 minutes from the beach to the hotel and there is also an alternative, beautifully winding road, with picture perfect spots, which you can take if you don't care for steps. We loved going up and down the steps, which are all over the place and discover gorgeous views from different angles. The hotel was excellent with AC and very clean, with a gorgeous terrace. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We considered other hotels before we arrived in Positano but we could not have asked for a better location. We saw some of the other hotels we had considered and we were glad we didn't book them, and they were more expensive. We would definitely stay there again when we return and we definitely will.

We stayed here one night in February. It was only one night because aside from some Carnivale fun, there was not much to do and only one restaurant open nearby! But the hotel was luxurious, with a great view from the terrace. It was super clean and comfortable. It just was hard to find- a fact made worse by our terrible Italian skills. But once we figured out what we did wrong, we had no trouble getting around. The steps everywhere did exacerbate my husband's usually latent knee problems. Besides the view and yummy breakfast, the staff was also super helpful and kind.
