“Charming old inn with spectacular views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

I found this lovely inn while walking down to the beach in Positano. It is on the stairs, close to a road that is served by the bus that scoots around the town. It is old, the furnishings are old and nostalgic, but the linens and bedding are new and good quality, it is very clean and wonderfully atmospheric (the double set of shutters to block light and sound). The room had a fantastic little balcony with table and chairs looking out over Positano's beach and harbor. That night, there were fireworks way up the mountain, and the view was so wonderful. Breakfast in the AM on a terrace overlooking the beach/bay - a good array of fruit, pastry, etc. to get you going. The concierge went above and beyond to help me with travel arrangements. This place was great - and less than half the price of what I'd paid the night before at another hotel in the area. I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: be sure to get a balcony room with a view of the beach.

I have a hard time thinking of something wrong with this hotel. The staff are all so friendly. The free breakfast is perfectly adequate with great coffee. The rooms are nice with big, private balconies. Free, speedy wifi. Location is great - it's high up but that means it has an amazing view and stairs are the rule of life in Positano so it's nothing unexpected. If you are feeling lazy you can take the long gradual way down along the road instead of the stairs straight. Just a solidly good hotel in an amazing town.

I spent a lot of time researching hotels in Positano for my honeymoon. I was somewhat put off by the photos of the retro-looking bedding and reviews commenting on how far up the hotel is, but rest assured--this hotel is absolutely lovely and a huge value for the price. Room 34 was very large for a European hotel, bed was comfortable, etc. I have no complaints about this hotel.

A few notes:

First, it's true. Casa Albertina is located higher up in Positano. That being said, if you're not interested in climbing stairs, you can wind your way through the town along the main road. It's about a 20 minute walk down to the beach and the incline is not bad at all. There are 40 or so stairs from the main road to the hotel.

Second, Casa Albertina is located near some great restaurants. We got advice from many friends to "walk up" for food (i.e. get away from the beach) and that advice was spot on.

Third, I would highly recommend booking a room with a patio. We sat out there many nights just watching the sunset or the brightness of the moon against the fast-moving clouds. Beautiful and relaxing.

Room Tip: Room 34 had beautiful views, a sizable patio, and a jetted tub. Definitely a great room.

We had the best 5 nights in Positano staying at Casa Albertina as our base to explore Amalfi Coast. it was the perfect location. We had room 31 which has a great view from the balcony and through window in the bathroom so that even when you are taking shower you get treated to this amazing view. Having a soaking tub was a bonus!
Breakfast every morning was included and was fresh and delicious. Alfonso the porter/ server is our favorite at the hotel, he is polite and pleasant plus he remembers that I like cappuccino and my husband coffee each morning. I can't wait for breakfast every morning which is taken on the terrace with a beautiful view of the coastline
The hotel is SUPER clean and we enjoy coming back after a day away to have the bed turned down each evening. We have travelled all over the world and this ranks as one of our favorite intimate small hotels
When we return to Positano we will definitely come back to stay here
(The only 4 star given is due to the bed being hard for my husband but it was fine for me)
We had to leave a day earlier than scheduled and Lorenzo was very kind to accommodate us without any problems. We would have loved to stay longer

Thank you Alfonso and Lorenzo for your hospitality.

Room Tip: Every room has a great view especially the higher floors We love our room 31

All staffs were very very nice, polite, and helpful. The room is good and clean. The view from the room is spectacular. You can get a good view of Positano town from the balcony of your room. It is best in the afternoon where the sun lights up the town from the West.

The drawbacks...... probably too many stairs to the hotel. But it is in Positano where you have to climb stairs to go to almost everywhere.

Overall, very impressed and would stay here again. I already recommended it to my friends who plan to go to Positano.

Room Tip: I think most rooms will have a good view of Positano town. But better try upper floors.

We had a lovely time in Positano at the Casa Albertina hotel. Our room had a nice view, though the balcony was too small to have any sort of chair/table on it (room #35). The rooms are a bit "tired" but were perfectly functional and decently clean (could use a new shower curtain though). The breakfast was very nice (the croissants and cappuccinos were delicious) and the terrace was a great place to eat on a sunny morning.

The hotel is a bit of a walk from the main beach/square area, but being up high over the beach helps with the view. As others have mentioned there are a lot of stairs in Positano and this hotel is 300 stairs up or down to the nearest road so pack light!

The staff were FANTASTIC! They were so nice and friendly that it made the hotel stay very enjoyable. One morning my husband was not feeling well and they helped me make a breakfast tray to take up to the room for him (they even carried it up for me). The staff spoke perfect English and were very nice/tolerant of my poor Italian. While this is not the fanciest hotel in Positano, the rates were good and the staff made us feel very welcome even in the "off" season.

Room Tip: I would avoid rooms on the second floor - it looked like they had terraces with tables and chairs, b...
