Just returned from a trip on which we spent 3 nights in Positano at Covo. Generally, it was a great location and very nice hotel. Pool is wonderful! A few things to keep in mind however: 1) You can not drive to this hotel. You must park your car in one of the many lots on the main road (we used Parcheggio Gennaro for 20 euros per day) and then walk the pedestrian only street 10 minutes down to the waterfront to the hotel. Luggage must be transported by a porter service (4 euros per bag plus tip) unless you want to haul it yourself down the steep walkways, including plenty of steps). 2) I don't know if this was typical but each evening and night during our stay, the entire beachfront area (inluding the hotel and our room) was overcome by a foul, sewer-like odor (we heard it was because raw sewage is dumped into the bay!). It was a very nasty smell and permeated right into our first floor room each night. 3)Apparently, room size and quality differs alot from room to room at Covo. All of the least expensive rooms are on the 1st and 2nd floors...make sure you know what you are getting and that you are not at the end of the corridor as those rooms face the street more than they do the sea. Since staying at Covo is expensive no matter what, consider staying in one of the higher floors' jr suites to get bigger space with larger balconies.
