I've been torn about writing this review as we loved our stay at Colle dell'Ara, but we had an issue with our room that I really hope has since been addressed. I really rely on TripAdvisor reviews when I travel so hoping to return the favor to other travelers. I would have rated it "Poor" based on our room except that the B&B itself was beautiful, and both my fiance and myself enjoyed our unique experience staying here. It would have a home run except for the room issue...
My fiance and I stayed at the B&B early June 2012. We absolutely loved the place and were happy to find the pictures online are exactly what you find upon arriving UNTIL we were moved to the dreaded 3rd floor our second night for the remainder of our stay. There was a major mold problem, and a very leaky tub/shower (I'm talking three towels to soak up water on the floor per shower), we explained to the brothers that we weren't happy with the room and the mold problem. I'm not completely sure that they understood our position, as we were told "it's complicated" over and over. I also didn't like the shared terrace the 3rd floor has as I was expecting the little private patio's with the curved iron railing as pictured on their website.
This was an amazing experience, and we have suggested the B&B to friends traveling through the area. I so personally want to be closer to town on our next visit.
Definitely check this place out, but I would suggest the 2nd floor rooms if you want what you see on the website. I believe these rooms may require that you have a private bath down the hall, but with the better ambience of the room and added terrace privacy I think it's worth it!
Also, don't take the train from Naples to Sorrento if you can help it; the highspeed from Rome to Naples is great (take the high speed! better class of people we took the high speed down to Naples and took the regular back; we were sorry we did). The bus from Sorrento to Positano was great, but the train from Naples to Sorrento was a bit shady.
