“Authentic Liguria”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2012

Igor at Hotel Genio gave me the hot tip to dine here for a real Ligurian meal and it didn't let me down! Family run with brisk but efficient and strangely enough warm and sincere service. The old nonna who opened the osteria and whose recipes they still use, shuffled in at one stage and gave a warm smile and hello.

I enjoyed the local soup and stuffed mussels - was on my own so didn't try as much as I would have liked too. It was delicious, generous serves and worth a visit!

“Basic, but you get what you pay for!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

We popped into this place for a quick bite. Locals looked like they were enjoying it. Short menu with nothing special. Loved the anchovies with oil and lemon and the spaghetti with pesto was basic but good. If you want a quick, local inexpensive place, this fits the bill.

“unusual entertaining and gourmet experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2011

For something different try this great little family run osteria. You not only get wonderful local cousine from a small menu that comes in three languages, but some entertainment as well from the slightly crazy host to ad hoc operatic arias from diners. We recommend the octopus and anchovie dishes, finish it off with a chunk of Genovese fruit cake and a glass of sweet wine.

“Never seen such a welcome in my life...unforgettable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2011

We entered this little restaurant in the center of Portovenere by "accident" (with a tripadvisor sticker on the door...), in a very touristic site. It was unique and unforgettable, the warm welcome by Antonio and Betty was so touching. The food was local, correct, but this was not the only important thing. There was a familiar atmosphere, Antonio made himself nice music and nice songs, the food and wine was excellent, really "made by mama and papa" ! The children also enjoyed it very much and will never forget this. Just get here in time to get a place, because many locals come here too ! (We don't know if you can make reservations). But never go by in Portovenere without a meal in this fantastic place !! Thank you very much Antonio and Betty ......

“A must try!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2011

Family-run osteria with wooden tables, jovial host and tasty, home-made food! Excellent mussels and 'mes-ciua' (typical soup made of beans, corn and chickpeas) which I thoroughly and heartily recommend! They take no reservations so I advise you to go there as soon as they open and take a seat.
