“Wonderful mix of home and holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

From the time we arrived at La Stanze we felt relaxed. I am a hotelier and am constantly checking out all of the things that other hotels do, the level of their service, the food, the finishings etc. I have to say that this is one of the few places where I could really relax because of the way that Florence and her staff took care of us and because the surroundings were so wonderful. You feel like you are staying with her in her house as her guest. Nothing is too much trouble and it's super relaxed.

Our room was very comfortable and perfect for our needs; we were travelling with our 3 year old son. He really enjoyed all of Florence's toys that date back to the 70's!! He also made friends with Florence, Lat and the dog and had to give them all a big kiss when we left... (not the dog!).

We had rented a car which was perfect because we could head out and explore the island. Florence had an armory of reccomendations and manage to suggest the best places for our needs (I am on crutches and with a 3 year old) and it always worked out excellently.

All is all this is a great place to relax and is centrally located in Elba so you can easily get out to the various parts of the island.

The island was beautiful and we really enjoyed our time there. The food was generally very good (if you like fish... Which we love!). The mix of the Tuscan life style and island-life was great.

Thanks too everybody at La Stanze who made our stay so special.

Andrew

There is not much more to say than what has been said already from all the other guests (except the negative ones). :-)
We were impressed by the beautiful and neatly decorated house and its rooms. Florence and her team took absolutly care of providing their guests a wondeful atmosphere including well maintained rooms and a breakfast with freshly baked cakes or cookies every day.
For us, it was simply perfect! Thanks again.
Greetings from Vienna.

Our family of three spent a week at this B&B and without hesitation would say it is one of the very best places we have ever stayed and we have stayed at the best hotels around the world. What makes it one of the best is the owner Florence. She welcomes you into her beautiful house and makes sure every need is met above any expectation. She chose fantastic beaches for us each day, away from the crowds and the most awe inspiring for beauty. She sent us on excursions to places we never knew existed from the Island of Pianosa to the sunken ship for snorkeling, to name just a couple. When it came to dinners, she made reservations at restaurants that aren't even reviewed on tripadvisor and only the locals know are the best and kept secret to those in the know. To top it all off, the house and room was magnificent with one of the best breakfast buffets. Every item is fresh. There is an abundance of fruits, home made baked goods, abundance of cheeses, & meats, a true cornucopia. Florence and her staff are truelly special individuals that desire to make your stay on the island of Elba very special. I have never written a review on this site, though have used for many years. This B&B pushed me over the edge to finally write a review. To meet such an individual in life like Florence, is truely a gift. Thank you Florence and your staff. Keep up the amazing work!

Room Tip: If looking for a B&B on Elba- stop you have just found it!

My wife and I loved the architecture and interior decoration of the hotel. The gardens encourage guests to stay outside and enjoy the evenings after a day of touring the island.
Staff is very friendly and provide excellent service. Florence, the manager, gave us excellent tips on places to visit and where to eat.
Highly recommended.

We arrived from the ferry by taxi to a very warm welcome at this beautiful traditional house set in the countryside. Florence and her Thai staff are so kind and helpful. They provided us with the most amazing breakfasts on the very pretty patio. There were homemade crepes, great choice of fresh fruit, an incredible variety of cheese, meat, pastries, yogourt....even a cappuccino or latte if you wish!! The rooms are large and beautiful....some with airy balconies. Their friendly dog Bush sometimes liked to walk with guests to the nearby village of San Giovanni (about a 5 minute walk)....we had our dinner here many nights. San Giovanni is also where we caught the bus into town each day to access the beaches. Florence provided us with maps and great advice each day (she knows the best beaches too!). At night, it was so special to sit in the large front garden amongst the lanterns sipping our wine as the lights twinkled down at the water. Florence made our stay extra special....a wonderful choice!!

Room Tip: A room with a balcony is extra special

We spent a week of our honeymoon here as we travelled around Tuscany and Elba. We adored this place and it has really been an unforgetable stay which is why i'm now writing this review a year later.
The villa has been so sensitively and uniquely restored with a sense of history meets contemporary art. I am an artist and i just loved every attention to detail and the warmth and fun of the place not to mention the food which is fresh and delicious and homemade every morning-breads cakes full platters of wonderful meats and cheese..the chef was a lady from thailand who also cooked us some thai meals in the evening which really were fabulous. Florence who was one of the owners and also ran the villa made our stay so special. She was a mine of information on everything and treated us like family while we were there. She introduced us to people living on the island and told us about great things to do during our stay. We have travelled alot and some places stand out- this place will be etched in my memory always. Thankyou Florence..

Room Tip: all are beautiful but i chose the balcony room as i smoke

The Le Stanze de Casale is a B&B near Portoferraio. It's a 10min drive from the Ferry in the harbor and is on the street to Porto Azzurro just behind the San Giovanni Therme. The gorgeous and calm Tuscan Countryhouse has 4 Rooms and also one Flat. Each room has a different style. We had one with a large bathroom and a beautiful balcony. The style of the House is very beautiful and filled with incredible details. Florence and her team are very friendly and helpful. You really feel like being at home. The Breakfast is very tasty (fresh made cookies, cakes etc) and changes all the time. Also we had some of the very tasty wines (try the Acquabona Red Reserva) from the wine fridge upstairs. If you are in Elba (and you really should visit this gorgeous island !) stay at the Le Stanze de Casale !
