My husband and I stayed here early Sept 2011 for a week. We stayed on a special offer basis of HB, car hire included and premium room with sea view. Firstly, it took 5 attempts for me to get the hotel to book my car hire which was included in our hotel rate. When we arrived to pick up the car it was the oldest, smallest most battered car I've ever driven. It was so bad we had to laugh. Anyway, we arrived at the hotel & the room was nice enough, the bed was very comfortable, no tea & coffee making facilities in the room (which I hate as they are trying to money grab more money when you order one), and the terrace was tiny-only enough room for a small table & 2 chairs but the view was fantastic straight out to the sea and a mountainous island in the distance. I'd rate the hotel room itself as average but the view great. The private beach area is nice and sandy but rather coarse sand, not powder. There is a lovely restaurant on the beach but it was only open for lunch when we were there which was a shame. For dinner the main restaurant is sighted higher up in the hotel and looks across the grounds of the hotel to the sea which was lovely. The food was fantastic. Dinner started with a buffet of salads, italian meats, cheeses, seafood etc followed by a pasta dish, then fish or meat and then dessert. Portion sizes were big. Annoyingly they would bring petite fours but not offer tea or coffee - you literally had to pin them down to bring you a coffee. By the way breakfast was below average. The usual buffet assortment but you would expect a hotel of this standard to offer a freshly cooked breakfast if wanted but there was only some awful dried up warm food on hot plates - yuk! Anyway, brace yourself if you stay here for the prices. A small glass of Moet 24 euros, a bottle of Moet 160 euros, a small can of coke 14 euros, local wines about 150 euros. My husband played the golf course 3 times which he loved. His a 7 handicap & found it difficult, narrow fairways etc. but the views are spectacular.
We did have a lovely time, glad we went, not sure we would go back at this point. You pay over the top for where the hotel is i.e costa smeralda rather than the hotel itself. I've stayed in many hotels of this standard that are better but it was worth the experience.
