“Great hotel, very expensive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

I was at Romazzino hotel in August/2012 and I think the main interest there is the beach, that is gourgeous. The hotel is very good, but the prices are not compatible with what it offers. I have stayed at many luxury hotels in Italy and around the world, and they are best quality in everything.
So, for me the hotel is excellent if the prices are lower than those of today.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep before 1 am, forget the rooms below the bar. There is live music there and the...

“Nice hotel , overpriced though”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

This is a nice hotel with a fantastic beach, the best in sardinia porto cervo area. The fact is that the rooms are not very nice, old and small and the facilities limited, so really you are paying all the money for the location and the name it used to have.

Nothing wrong with the food, it is actually very nice.

Service is good too.

“Stunningly beautiful & expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

The Romazzino Hotel is beautiful, with a stunning beach location. It is outside (about 10 min drive) of Porto Cervo, so I would definitely rent a car if you are staying there. A taxi to town we were told would cost 30 Euros. The rooms are relatively basic, but the hotel grounds are great. Great pool, large beach, nice playground area/kids club. The breakfast is great & the staff are very attentive. The downside of the Romazzino is the price. Everything is very very expensive (32 Euros for a burger at the beach restaurant, 9 Euros for a latte), so if you go make sure you are comfortable with the prices so you can enjoy your vacation.

“Superb location, elegance and impeccable service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2011

Gorgeous beach location and guestrooms but far from restaurants, shopping etc. so having a car is almost a necessity here. That being said the hotel is beautifully decorated in Mediterranean style. Wifi throughout, including guestrooms. Outstanding outdoor workout pavilion with state-of-the-art equipment and personal trainer on duty. Great private beach with recliners and umbrellas but no drink service. When I went to get a diet coke at the beachfront café it cost me 11 euros… a record on this trip. There are no bargains at the Romanzina—except for the extraordinary gigantic breakfast buffet. International FAX exchange was handled in very timely and confidential manner. Upon checkout we had a dispute over a private car service the hotel had arranged for us. The hotel billed us, but I had paid the driver in cash as he suggested at drop-off, and the next day via phone he denied receiving any money from me (200 euros!). The highly professional reception staff at Romanzina handled the situation with tact and understanding and very kindly worked w/ the car service and removed the charge from my bill.

“Good but pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2011

My husband and I stayed here early Sept 2011 for a week. We stayed on a special offer basis of HB, car hire included and premium room with sea view. Firstly, it took 5 attempts for me to get the hotel to book my car hire which was included in our hotel rate. When we arrived to pick up the car it was the oldest, smallest most battered car I've ever driven. It was so bad we had to laugh. Anyway, we arrived at the hotel & the room was nice enough, the bed was very comfortable, no tea & coffee making facilities in the room (which I hate as they are trying to money grab more money when you order one), and the terrace was tiny-only enough room for a small table & 2 chairs but the view was fantastic straight out to the sea and a mountainous island in the distance. I'd rate the hotel room itself as average but the view great. The private beach area is nice and sandy but rather coarse sand, not powder. There is a lovely restaurant on the beach but it was only open for lunch when we were there which was a shame. For dinner the main restaurant is sighted higher up in the hotel and looks across the grounds of the hotel to the sea which was lovely. The food was fantastic. Dinner started with a buffet of salads, italian meats, cheeses, seafood etc followed by a pasta dish, then fish or meat and then dessert. Portion sizes were big. Annoyingly they would bring petite fours but not offer tea or coffee - you literally had to pin them down to bring you a coffee. By the way breakfast was below average. The usual buffet assortment but you would expect a hotel of this standard to offer a freshly cooked breakfast if wanted but there was only some awful dried up warm food on hot plates - yuk! Anyway, brace yourself if you stay here for the prices. A small glass of Moet 24 euros, a bottle of Moet 160 euros, a small can of coke 14 euros, local wines about 150 euros. My husband played the golf course 3 times which he loved. His a 7 handicap & found it difficult, narrow fairways etc. but the views are spectacular.
We did have a lovely time, glad we went, not sure we would go back at this point. You pay over the top for where the hotel is i.e costa smeralda rather than the hotel itself. I've stayed in many hotels of this standard that are better but it was worth the experience.
