“Relaxing but quiet... Luxurious but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014

Our Visit:

We visited slightly before the season began the weather was nice but not overly hot. The guests of the hotel were predominantly pleasant German middle aged couples, who were friendly and willing to engage in conversation if an effort was made.

The Good:

The hotel is in an idyllic location, with beautiful views (particularly in the hotel restaurant ) of the surrounding area looking down over the coastline of Sardinia. The hotel itself looks phenomenal, it's exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Equally the staff couldn't do more to try and help you; they're very well presented wearing very formal attire at all times which really serves to make it feel like a very upmarket hotel. The pool area is very well-kept and is a wonderful place to relax with staff constantly on hand and free towels to put down on the sunbeds.

The not so Good:

Though we knew Sardinia would be on the pricey side eating and particularly drinking at the hotel was not cheap. For example, you should not expect to receive any change back from a 10 euro note for two soft drinks. There are supermarkets nearby should you wish to get food and drinks for the room to overcome this.

There are some restaurants in the local area but you really need to have hired a car to reach them, as the island itself is not walking friendly.

Our largest issue was with the cost of taxis it was astronomically expensive. Ensure you discuss with hotel staff to guarantee you a firm price prior to going anywhere.

Room Tip: We went in May, it was just before the season had began and was very quiet and we received a free up...

We didn't stay but went for lunch twice. The restaurant has a commanding view over the bay. Lunch menu was well executed and reasonable value. The hotel felt very quiet and we were the only people eating in the restaurant both times so had a nice "private dining expereince". I'd eat there again.

We lloked at the rooms and they are OK but small. Can't speak for the rest

We spent 3 nights in this beautiful boutique hotel. Everything was perfect. The location is prime with great views, and very convenient. The hotel is truly a jewel. Rooms are all nicely laid out, beautifully decorated and well maintained. The lobby also has great views and has a ggreat feel to it. The service all in all is impeccable. The pool is nice size and the private beach is wonderful. The staff is friendly, helpful and sincere . The restaurant also had beautiful views with great local cuisine and professional service. Porto Cervo is an area where accommodation prices do not make sense and service is mostly overpriced and pretentious. Petra Bianca is definitely an exception. It offers great value and is a great place to spend a relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: seaview rooms or suites.

We spent 3 nights here and were expecting better, to be honest. The hotel was nicely laid out and the staff were exceptionally friendly, but the room was not up to our expectations. The first disappointment was that there was no bath - just a shower cabinet, and also there were no iron or coffee making facilities in the room, and so we found it very basic. The balcony overlooking the pool and the sea was wonderfully private and we of course did not spend much time in the hotel room! The food in the restaurant was excellent, although expensive. It was our first time in Sardinia and we were quite disappointed with Costa Smeralda - OK if you like to sit on the beach or go on a boat, but not much else to do.

This hotel is in a great location in Porto Cervo on the Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast). The staff in reception were very helpful and were able to answer all of our questions and spoke English very well. The hotel was completely renovated 2 years ago and is beautiful. The room was good sized and very comfortable. Continental breakfast was included and provided both scrambled and hard boiled eggs with a large selection of meats, breads cereals and cheeses.
We would load up on breakfast and would not have to eat again until supper time. It has plenty of parking and you do need a car to tour around Sardinia.

Ms. Mancini , the General Manager, made it a point to introduce herself and made us feel very welcome. I can recommend this hotel very highly and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

on arrival around midnight, very professional and friendly chap on reception, coffee made for us by the bar person, stayed at many 5* hotels to be told "the machine has been shut down for cleaning' not here. From the first moment nothing was too much trouble, if you want anything, from extra hangers to places to eat or places to go, just ask. highly recommend the hotel and the staff are some of the best, from the cleaner to the manager, 10 out of 10!
You must eat at least once in the hotel for dinner, loved it.
Best to hire a car to get around.

Our reviews are factually based on the hotel experience (only), trying to remove any emotive statements, so the reader can draw their own opinion.

. Shower door did not close properly.
. Weak WiFi (struggled to get 2 bar connection).
. String of plastic found in food (The dish was replaced, with a simple apology).
. Waiter attendance lacking professionalism, as we were left to poor our own wine (wine bucket was place several feet out of reach from the table).
. No Iron ( "not something we offer; however if you ask tomorrow we can arrange something at cost" ).
. Private beach is very small; at a guess about 50 loungers lined in 3 tight rows. The front row of loungers by the sea edge, is reserved for non-hotel guests. Day visitors haggle between 25 -50 euros per lounger with beach attendants.
. Beach area is also invaded by a continuous stream of market sellers bothering all guests.

. Location has some great coastal views.
. Hotel architecture is nice both in and outside (bright, airy, clean).
. Pool and pool area is very nice benefiting from both previous points made.
. Receptionist was friendly.
. Porters were friendly.
. At check-out a spare room was reserved for us to shower (having come from the beach that morning) - which allow the room to be vacated by 12:00 for cleaning.
