“well-localized and worthy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

The hotel is located about 2 min from the Orvieto station on foot. The room we stayed, in the new part of the hotel, was extremely clean and very comfortable. They provide a rich breakfast, with many delicious italian home-made cakes/pies, besides eggs, breads, etc. It is very cheap and worthy for a one-night or a longer visit. The staff is friendly and provided us everything we needed, plus a nice memory of Italy.

Room Tip: In the new building of the hotel, totally brand new.

Upon arrival we feared it would be just another small, family run guest house, but it turned out to be a whole lot more!

The hotel is just 2 min walk from a Funicolare station from where you can get to the Rocca for 1euro/person in just a couple of minutes.

The owner greeted us, showed us to our room (which was in a different building just across the street). Though we only stayed there one night the owner offered that we could leave our car at his garage for the whole next day when we were visiting Orvieto. Our room was small, but VERY comfortable and clean. Free WiFi was a perk (it's still not that common in Italy). Complimentary breakfast was a proper feast! I must have tried at least 6 types of cakes made by the owner.

There aren't very many restaurants of bars anywhere near the hotel, so if you want to go out for a dinner you may need to drive.

Was greeted warmly from the owner herself, who advised she had upgraded me to one of her new hotel rooms. It was very clean, tastefully decorated, comfortable and spacious.
It is located 5 mins walk from train station and cable cart to get up to the main city which is only a 2 minute trip up the hill.
Even though I had booked a budget room, breakfast and free wifi were included.
Excellent overall experience.

Room Tip: The new hotel rooms are lovely.

We stayed two nights in this hotel at the feet of Orvieto. It is in a steep hill, about 200 m from the funicular and the main train station. We did not stay in the main building, but in an apart block just opposite. We could choose in between two triple rooms. The room was nice, big, clean with one double and one single confortable beds. Nice big bathroom.
The breakfast in the main building was good if you like cakes (about 10 different homebaked sorts), not much else, but sufficiant anyway. The landlady is very friendly. She gave us a lot of information on the region and how to go and return to Orvieto. The hotel is NOT on top of the hill. The funicular is very easy to go up. After 20h30 you have to a take a bus. The area round the hotel was not very appealing, we tried a bar and a restaurant, but decided to leave and go up to Orvieto and eat there. Fantastic bar called 'Clandestino'! You take you're aperitif there and get lots of nice food to taste.
We would definitely stay in the hotel again. Nice experience.

It was great to arrive in a clean, comfortable room late on a raining night. The landlady/ hostess was kind enough to let me wake her up at 11pm when my flight was cancelled last minute and delayed my arrival by a 5 hours. I found the bed wonderfully comfortable, with extra pillows and blankets on hand. The room was a decent size, with cupboard, desk, bag stand and side tables and had good heating. The bathroom was great, clean, decent size and three kinds of towels per person. Also a bidet! Even had my own balcony with a table overlooking a sweet street and the cliff of Orvieto old town.

Buffet breakfast has cereals, yoghurt, cappachinos, teas, decaf coffee, bread, cheese, cold meats, and numerous, delicious, homemade Italian cakes and tarts. Wonderful start to the day!

Hostess is helpful with maps and directions and advice.

The hotel is not in Orvieto old town, but just two minutes from the train and tram station.

I paid a reduced rate on Agoda, I don't know what the actual rate for this hotel it. But I was happy with my stay and even stayed an extra night.

Room Tip: I stayed in the house across the street, room overlooking the street. I can't speak for any othe...

What a charming place to spend the night after visiting Orvieto. The owners are amazing, and the breakfast was the best we had in our 2 weeks in Italy. This place felt authentic and welcoming, and was a wonderful change after leaving Naples. The car rental was right down the street.

The hotel was very convenient for the train and close to the funicular to take you up to the old town, you have to be careful as this finishes at 8.30pm although you can get a bus down later.
The owner was very helpful and couldn't be more informed as to the sights to visit in the area. The breakfast was good and the room was adequate.

Room Tip: Probably ask to be in the annex if possible
