“Pretty and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Perfect location in Orvieto, right in the middle of town. Very pretty and comfortable. Our room was bright and cheerful with a small balcony overlooking the pedestrianised street. Wonderful staff warm friendly and helpful. Good wifi and lovely breakfast. Orvieto is a wonderful place to visit, it has lots of historic buildings and a stunning cathedral. Highly recommended.

A small point really but hotel parking was tricky to find, slight error on map.

My daughter and I stayed at the Hotel Corso in early May 2012. Our room, on the second floor, looked directly out onto the 2nd floor patio that's available for all to use. I suppose that could have been a detriment had it been anyone other than us out there hooting it up late at night!

Our room was small but comfortable, the bathroom the same. The ceiling of our room was timbered and slanted; charming. The people at the front desk were very nice, they had little English, and we had little Italian but worked out well. The breakfast in the AM is in a sunny comfortable breakfast room just off the lobby; the food was good, the espresso, wonderful.

This location is convenient; we did not have a car, you really don't need one in Orvieto. We slept with the window open, the night was still cool, but I wouldn't want to be here in the summer without A/C.

I would stay here again, I thought the price was fair and the beds were comfy. This is a wonderful medieval town and this is a great place to stay while exploring it.

We spent two nights at the hotel Corso and found the experience worthwhile. The staff was very friendly and helpful, we appreciated the availability of nearby restaurants, shops and private parking. Most interesting sites are accessible by foot. Shower in our room (# 10) was minimal in size and air conditioning was just sufficient for that early summer season (mid June) but this facility represents and attractive quality/price ratio. Included buffet breakfast was quite o.k. We would return and recommend this hotel

Room Tip: The place does not have a swimming pool or a fitness center, but we simply cannot erase the apprecia...

This hotel was an OK experience - mainly because of the heat in mid-July and room AC that was inadequate to the task. The hotel owners and staff were very pleasant and helpful (very helpful). The location was great; it was a bit confusing driving into the city center to get to the hotel, but a little care and a good GPS does the trick. The rooms were spacious. The bed mattresses were not great, and the shower in the bathroom leaked on the floor. However, I would still have given it 4 stars if not for the heat. The AC unit essentially didn't work. Technically, it blew out cool air, but at such a weak rate that there was no hope against the July sun. To the hotel's credit, when we asked for an electric fan, they searched around and found one, which definitely helped.

In summary: in the middle of summer, I would say maybe find a different place. Any other (i.e, cooler) time, I think this would be a fine value for the money, and would be pleasant. So, my temperature-dependent rating: Over 90 degrees outside: 3 stars; Under 90 degrees outside: 4 stars.

This is a nice little hotel on the main street in the old town of Orvieto. It's clean and comfortable. The bathroom is rather small but what isn't in Italy. Room #6 has a small balcony that is shaded in the evening. The perfect place for a chilled glass of prosecco after a long day of exploring the old town. I would come back and would certainly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Room number 6 is great if you're looking for a balcony for evening drinks. There's a refrige...

Room comfortable, service and breakfast good, but air conditioning did not work. We were in a room on the second floor with just the roof above us. It was pretty warm during the night and I suspect during July and August it would have been oppressive. Our room also was right next to the terrace which meant that you were aware of anyone smoking etc.

We would have given it 5 stars had it not been for an initial mix-up with two rooms being booked as we have different surnames. Unfortunately the receptionist did not speak English and we hadn't printed our booking. When we asked to log on to the internet to retrieve our booking, she wanted 5 Euro. Anyway help in the form of an English speaking person came along and things were sorted out amicably.
Great location, walk everywhere in Orvieto, very nice room, air conditioned and with a mini fridge. Good breakfast is included.
By the way, there is free WI-FI at Theatro Mancelli, a little further up Corso Cavour. Just buy a glass of wine and you get a WEP key so you can enjoy your internet fix.

Room Tip: I think the rooms fronting the Corso Cavour are probably the bigger rooms, but do not have a balcony...
