“Very clean and nice rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

I stayed at Piccolomini 3 times since 2009 and all my stays were very good. Staff was nice roomes were spacey and clean with a good decoration. Hotel is in a good location and have a parking lot in near - which costs extra. I strongly recommend Hotel Piccolomini and wonderful Orvieto which is one of the most beautiful Cittaslows in Italy.

I stayed here for three nights in late October as part of a group. It is a lovely hotel in a historic building. That said, the rooms are on the small size and basic, but certainly comfortable enough if you are spending most of your day sightseeing. The shower, however, is really tiny. I am not a big person, so it wasn't a problem, but it might be for some. The staff is wonderful and helpful. The breakfast is varied and delicious. The location is great- just a bit outside the most touristy part of town but within easy reach of everything.

Room Tip: Because of a scheduling problem, I was given one night in one of their"suites" in a separa...

We spent two nights at the Piccolomini in October 2011 and were very satisfied. Our room was very comfortable and extremely quiet, and the hotel is within easy walking distance of the main sights of Orvieto. The breakfast room was particularly nice and roomy, and the selection of hot and cold food was fairly extensive. Staff were very helpful with the few questions and requests we had. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends.

I stayed at the Hotel Palazzo Piccolomini for two nights in September. The hotel is in a nice quiet area of Orvieto and a short walk to the Cathedral and main piazza. The staff was very helpful in planning day trips and giving directions to good restaurants in town. I was up very early both days so I did not have time to eat the wonderful breakfast that others have written about. I would love to go back and stay at the Palazzo again.

A truly old palace well converted. We had a salon large enough to host 100 people. Staff delightful and good service.

Room Tip: Stay in the dependence across the street and face the street.

What good fortune that we found this hotel! We stayed here as our base hotel for 4 nights in late August and did daytrips in our car. Here's the good stuff: great Orvieto location, quiet & close to city walls. Helpful & friendly people, good breakfast, free wi-fi, A/C, big comfy room, great restaurants close by. It is across town from the train station, but has super-easy, affordable parking in parking garage "Campo della Fiera"--from there you take the elevator up to town and are only about a block from the hotel. We recommend The Grotto restaurant, and Zeppelin. Charlie's Pizza is skippable---the Grotto makes a much much much better pizza as well as superb pasta, and has some of the friendliest folks in Italy. If you have time, take a cooking class from Lorenzo at Zeppelin. It's definitely worth it!

Room Tip: Book directly with hotel to save them commission fees, they'll honor priceline prices. Ask for q...
