“Magnificent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

We just returned from a trip to Tuscany and Umbria and had the pleasure of staying at Locanda Rosati. This is a gem located just outside of Orvieto and quite near Lake Balsema. The property is beautiful with a wonderful pool. The rooms are clean and the large. The owner Giampiero is so helpful. On our last night there we ate dinner at the Long Table and it was one of the best dinners we ate on our two weeks in Italy. Words cannot describe how welcome he and his family make you feel. This is an excellent agriturismo! Bravo!

Room Tip: We had an outside room that opened to the back leading to the pool, but all of the rooms are very ni...

We recently stayed at Locanda Rosati and it certainly ticked all the boxes for us.Our decision to stay here was based on other Trip Advisor recommendations and we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. Eating at the Long Table each night (we only stayed 3 nights unfortunately) was a great experience. We met people from Belgium, Canada, America and, of course, Italy. The sharing of food and the fun and laughter at dinner was something to look forward to at the end of each day. The food was of a very high standard and always delicious. My husband can be a bit picky when it comes to food but even he is still talking about the meals we had there. It was also great to be able to drink the wine and sample the grappa and limoncello each night at dinner and not have to worry about driving anywhere afterwards. Our room was lovely - very spacious and with plenty of storage space. We also enjoyed swimming in the pool and walking around the grounds.
Locanda Rosati is not all that far from Orvieto but a car is really needed to be able to get around. We loved the walled city of Orvieto - it was on our list of favourite places that we visited on our month long trip of Italy. Would we stay at Locanda Rosati again - yes, without hesitation!

This was areal find for us. It had been suggested by people that live in Orvieto. It is about 5 km out from town but easy access to town. Beautiful setting in more rural area. The rooms were large for European standards with excellent baths. The real find though was the meals cooked by the owner. These were outstanding meals as good if not better than any restaurants we tried. They served good more rustic food family style. Couldn't more highly recommend any place.

My husband and I stayed here in early June for 3 nights. It is a short drive out of Orvieto which was good because, being a walled hilltop town, parking within Orvieto would be a nightmare . The rooms in this agriturismo are fresh, bright, large and very clean and comfortable . The host was incredibly helpful, even getting prescription medication for me when the pharmacies were closed on a Sunday. The highlight was having dinner at the communal table with the other guests..many course with wine, grappa and limoncello, and the fettucine tartufo ( truffles) was amazing.

We were at the Locanda for 4 nights in July. We loved it even more than 12 years ago. GianPiero and his family make your stay perfect and they are always more than happy to share their insights on day trips and rare finds. We love the rooms, the pool and the dinner. Our kids loved it and enjoyed spending time with new friends in and around the pool. Grazie Gian Piero e a presto!

Room Tip: All roome are perfect...you can even have a room to accomodate a family of 4.

My family and I stayed at Locanda Rosati for 4 nights during our 18 day visit to Italy. The pictures don't deceive -- the home is beautiful, the rooms clean and spacious, and the grounds well landscaped. We frequently walked the property and smelled a bouquet from various shrubs wafting in the air. Apricots were ripe for picking during our visit. The pool was a welcome relief during the heat wave. (There are beach towlels for rent if your forget to bring your own). Our room was divine and well appointed. It was near the kitchen so we heard (and smelled!!) dinner preparations each evening, but it was only during the afternoon hours. There is air conditioning, but evenings were cool and we chose to open the windows each night. There is a washing machine and dryer onsite, but I would advise against planning to do laundry here. The machines are very slow and the staff uses them for their own purposes.

A few comments about the location: a car is a must. It's too far from the train station to walk and calling a cab daily would be inconvenient. Also, there is a long winding road to reach Locanda Rosati and not much in the area within walking distance. When we arrived at the train station, we plugged the address into our GPS and wound up (as another reviewer) at some crazy location with a long, white stone precarious driveway. Fortunately, a handsome passerby helped my stranded family find our way to the right location. It would be wise to have a hard copy of a street map before venturing out. With a car, everything is fairly convenient.

We had two meals at Locanda Rosati. We found dinners to be plentiful and delicious. Think Tuscan farm food and you will not be disappointed. There is plenty for everyone. There also seemed to be an endless supply of red and white wine for everyone. Giampero does indeed join guests for meals and he is interesting to listen to. If you prefer not to interact with others, this is not the place for you. We met people from the states, Germany and Canada. Conversation was mostly very convivial, though at times the language barrier does make it a challenge.

We used Locanda Rosati as a base and visited Assisi, Siena, Civita, and Orvieto. If I were to stay here again, I would spend more time exploring Orvieto and the surrounding countryside. Giampero has wonderful ideas on how to spend your time doing non-touristy things. He knows the area well and is very passionate about it.

My last comment is in regard to the "agri" part of this place. I had hoped to see more farming or products that Locanda Rosati produces, but I wasn't aware of them.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms here.

The reviews are spot on. The place is beautiful, relaxing, and a gastronomical treat. The dinners are to die for--not only for the food, but for the company as well. The location, grounds, and pool are a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the big cities (loved the big cities, too). Orvieto is a gem as is the entire area. Giampiero, Paolo, Cristiana, and the rest of the staff are like family and so accommodating--they make the whole experience unforgettable and the reason we will one day return...for a much longer visit.

Room Tip: We had a triple--plenty of room with a wonderful bathroom and A/C.
