“The Best Experience of Our Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

Our experience at Decugnano dei Barbi was amazing. The moment you arrive, you are overtaken by the incredible scenery surrounding you. From there, we had a tour of the winery, where we learned about the wine making process from beginning to end. Our tour guide was both knowledgeable and interesting. After learning about the wine, we began our cooking class, which was amazing. My boyfriend and I were the only ones there, which made the experience much more intimate. The food we made was amazing. I also loved that every dish is something that I could make back in the United States. After cooking, we enjoyed a private dinner in the chapel while drinking the delicious wines. It was the most incredible moment. It was the best part of our trip and one of the best memories of my life. I would recommend this winery to anyone. I hope to come back again!

“Dream Day in Umbria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2012

We heartily second all the reviews stating this was the most remarkable experience during a cruise from Monte Carlo to Barcelona. We found Anna from Trip Advisor and she was great. She arranged all the transportation to and from the harbor and met us with such a terrific smile and an amazing amount of enthusiasm. The winery tour was very interesting and the site is spectacular. The hills of Umbria are a match to Tuscany. We were in Siena the day prior.
The cooking class with Anna and Rosanna was fun and informative. We made delicious pizza, pasta, and more, all from scratch. Dining in the restored chapel was magnificent. A tour of Orvieto completed the day. Don 't miss this. See the website. We plan to return to stay in the guesthouse that sleeps 10. This far exceeded any expectations. Thanks Anna!

“Bellissimo Decugnano dei Barbi!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2011

A highlight of our trip to Umbria! We traveled with friends and we four had a memorable evening at Decugnano dei Barbi -- tour, cooking class and dinner with wine tasting. Anna Rita arranged a wonderful time. Illiana, our cook and teacher, was very patient and enjoyed our "techniques" in the kitchen. The men retreated outside to enjoy the stunning views with cigars while we ladies whipped up pizza, focaccia, pasta, and more. It was a great cooking class of simple dishes but with the freshest of ingredients and the results - splendido! Dinner was even better with the wine pairings. The views from Decugnano dei Barbi of Orvieto are amazing, the property beautiful and the evening couldn't have been better. Highly recommend time at Decugnano dei Barbi.

Dear Beth R,

A warm thank you to you and your friends! We have thought of our cooking classes as a complete experience, so clients can go back home with a real sense of having done something authentic. Our wines belong to our soil, together with the simplicity of our cuisine. The smells of the fresh herbes, the home made pasta prepare solely by hand, the sweetness of the cherries tomatoes with fresh basil, all paired with our wines in an extraordinary setting.

Thank you for given us the opportunity to express all our passion for wine and food traditions.

“Magnificent cooking course and wine tasting!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2011

My husband and I spent a week in Italy and our experience at Decugnano dei Barbi with Anna and Iliana was the most memorable part of our entire trip! We booked the evening tour/tasting/cooking course from 4-8pm. First, Anna gave us a tour of the winery and then we headed to the chapel kitchen to prepare a four course meal with Anna and Iliana. Iliana is an amazing Italian chef who taught us how to make fresh pasta/sauce, homemade pizza, stuffed zucchini and almond biscuits. Illiana did not speak English, but Anna was right there to assist with translating if necessary. We had no idea we were the first ones to every participate in a cooking class at Decugnana dei Barbi! They were so organized and everything went very well - we had no idea it was their first time leading this class. Once we finished cooking the meal, we had time to ourselves to enjoy the meal in the chapel. Anna served us a different wine with each course. If you are anywhere near Orvieto, you MUST book a cooking class and wine tasting with Decugnano! It is well worth the money for such a memorable experience!
