“Nice Room and breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

This is certainly a lovely B&B in a restored house. It has loads of character. Guilia is lovely and very helpful. The breakfast is very good - cereal, toast, eggs, cakes, fresh fruit, pastries. Our bathroom was fantastic with a huge spa bath. We were disappointed not to have a view after having read what others said but I think our room was compensated by having the spa bath. The B&B is well located and very central.

We booked online (months ago) after reading the Tripadvisor reviews - and as usual Tripadvisor didn't let us down. This lovely B&B gleams with cleanliness and serenity. Giulia is a gentle, quiet hostess, but she runs a tight ship. We knew we were in good hands from the moment we arrived. She arranged dinner reservations at a great restaurant we would not have found on our own, and ensured we had all the information we needed for the afternoon. Our room was very comfortable, and we slept well. Breakfast the next morning was lovely. We would gladly have stayed a week, but we had to move on. Orvieto is a delightful town - we've been here before - and we'd love to return. And we will certainly stay at Sant' Angelo 42 again if possible.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience here. Giulia was very friendly and helpful, and had a map of Orvieto and some other good information ready for us when we arrived. She also made breakfast, with a homemade cake/brunch bread and hard-boiled egg (more than we usually got, which was just packaged croissants and biscuits/cookies). Our room was upgraded to a suite, for no apparent reason! We had a jacuzzi and a big window. The bed was *very* comfortable with big fluffy pillows, too.
We loved the place, and a night in Orvieto was a great escape from the big cities. We did a walk around the edge of the town (Anello della Roca, ask for a map at one of the tourist info areas) and a wine tour (Decugnano de Barbi, EXCELLENT!).

A very nice and homely B&B situated about 10minutes walk from the funicular, making it really easy to access. We were late for check-in (the train from Rome which was supposed to take just over an hour took 2hours - we almost thought we took the wrong train or missed the stop!). The owner had left the B&B by the time we arrived so we had to call her to return, and I guess she wasn’t too happy that we didn’t update her about the late arrival. We had a bright airy room on the top floor that comes with high ceiling, two little balconies and spacious bathroom. Breakfast was yummy, and overall stay was pleasant. Checked out 10 minutes late (no excuse this time =p) and this was promptly highlighted to us as well. Perhaps it was a busy period, or the owner is just strict on check-in/out times, but it is a lovely place to stay, and the owner is quite friendly on all other counts. Just don’t forget to keep an eye on your watch.

Spent two nights in the charming and beautiful town of Orvieto and Giulia's B&B was the ideal place to stay. Giulia was a delightful and friendly host and her good english was a bonus with communication as our Italian was basic. We booked the suite room which was on the highest level of the B&B. The room was huge with timber floors, high ceilings and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was also large and included a spa bath and rain shower over the bath. Breakfast was in the kitchen/dining area on the ground floor and was ideal for a good start to the day.
Giulia made recommendations for dining and we were particularly impressed with Trattoria del Moro where we had a delightful dinner. Just around the corner from the B&B is Cafe del Corso where we enjoyed snacks and coffee and can recommend.
Orvieto is a beautiful town and while we were there it was flower festival time with many shops and residences displaying spectacular flower arrangements. A walk around the perimeter of the town provided spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. We enjoyed Orvieto so much that one of us stated they could happily live here.

Room Tip: The Suite room as described.

This B&B is great, and Giulia is an exceptional hostess! Practically the minute we arrived she secured us lunch and dinner reservations at 2 of the best places in town. The room was cute and clean, and it had the nicest bathroom of all the places we stayed on our entire trip. Orvieto is a charming town, and I can't think of a better place to stay when visiting than Sant'Angelo 42!
