“Wishing I was still there!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

My husband I spent three wonderful days with Daniela and Marco at their little piece of heaven on earth! Great company, wonderful food, comfortable bed...and peace and quiet with the option to explore in nearby Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio, Assisi, Siena and Florence. Daniela and Marco fixed us delicious meals, offered recipes, tasty wine and after dinner treat of limoncello. We stayed up way later than intended sitting around the cozy dining room table chatting about food, family, art, music and politics!

Rome was beautiful, Orvieto quaint and friendly, Florence visually overwhelming but the best part of our vacation was with Daniela, Marco, Miles, Quilt and Lucy. We left feeling as though we added new members to our family!

Until we meet again...

We stayed there a couple of nights and we loved it. Marco and Daniela are the perfect hosts, very helpful, great cooks. Orvieto was an optional destination for us, but we are glad we decided to explore it. What a beautiful region! I wish we could have stayed longer. If you go, try to take a look at the sky in the middle of the night... MILLIONS of stars above you! I could not believe it, the clearest skies on earth. And in the morning a delicious breakfast awaited us, capuccinos, home-made jams, tasty local made cheeses.... We will go back for sure

My husband and I stayed here in September as part of our 30th anniversary trip. We loved the setting--good roads but off the beaten path. Very quiet, lovely sunsets, olive trees, friendly dog and cats. The rooms are comfortable but the area so interesting you are eager to set out every day. (I hesitate to write this review because we want to return and hope they have room for us!) Daniele and Marco are warm and fun hosts with great knowledge of the area, food and customs; it was interesting to hear about wild boar, growing olives and how to explore Umbria/Tuscany. We were given advice, maps and reassurance about our excursions. They are energetic and work hard to meet guests' needs. We had 2 dinners with them, one in the cozy dining room and the other outside on the patio, both were awesome feasts; from the appetizer to the liquors at the end. You will feel part of the family here, you can rest or be as active as you want and these hosts will help you find the balance.

Room Tip: All rooms terrific.

My husband and I planned the last 3 days of our 12 day vacation at Antica Olivaia. We've been to Italy many times, and we've had several wonderful experiences under our belt. Now we have a new experience that ranks at the top. And all for the many reasons that other reviewers have expressed, but what I'd like to point out is what passionately comes from the owners Daniela and Marco is their genuine love for what they do and where they live – including knowledge of music and art, food, great conversation, pets and more. Their lucky guests get to bask in all of that. Fortunately for us, we were the only ones there in our short stay (others just left and more were to come as we departed) and so we felt like we were hanging out with friends and family (we got to sit at the table with Daniela's mom and dad who are lovely people as well). In regard to the inn itself.... the setting is lovely and tranquil (away from the crowds and cars – just a 10 minute drive up country from Orvieto), and the accommodations are very clean, comfortable, and decorated with a country elegance. And you get large bath towels (gotta love that). The meals are outstanding and cooked with passion (we are first generation Italians and have a good feel for the real deal). Daniela and Marco are very thoughtful and we were treated to some of our favorites like stuffed zucchini flowers and coppa! Dishes such as risotto with pumpkin and speck, roasted meat, local cheeses, bruschetta, and a variety pizza (including one with earthy truffles) all cooked to perfection along with delicious desserts (baked pears with chocolate drizzle and crunch) and breakfast jams -- all taking advantage of what’s available and in season. At the end of your meal you get to sample some of Marco’s homemade Lemoncello. And if they aren’t cooking for you, then they know where to get some of the best food in the area (Carbonara of Creamed Fava Bean and Baffo in at Trattoria del Moro - Aronne in Orvieto – to die for). Last, but not least, if you love animals, then Miles, Quilt and Lucy will make your stay all the more enjoyable. Their sweet dog and 2 cats are friendly and hilarious to boot. And if animals are not your thing, then they will leave you alone (and if you have allergies, it's no big deal because they are never in your eating or sleeping area). We would love to return and see more of Umbria and our new friends Daniela and Marco at Antica Olivaia.

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved our our time at Antica Olivaia. We booked our stay based on their glowing reviews, and our expectations were far exceeded. The views are absolutely breathtaking and the room (including our massive bathroom) was great. Daniela and Marco were incredibly hospitable- from cooking some of the best meals we had in Italy to helping us plan out every detail of our days, everything was perfection. We had such an amazing time that we seriously contemplated cutting a day off of our next stop to spend another night there.

Thanks to Daniela and Marco, this was our favorite of 5 stops in Italy by far. I look forward to our next visit!

Antica Olivaia, delivers exactly what is stated on their website.

Which was noted as soon as we arrived to the last five minutes before we left. They're two of the most welcoming, accommodating people you shall ever meet. Marco's meals, down to the homemade jams are exceptional and Daniela's deserts are divine and unpassable.

The location is breathtaking the sunsets each evening must not be missed, the accommodation is done to a high standard, clean and great beds!! Fab size pool of which beckons you to take a dip in the mid afternoon sunshine.
The location for venturing out to discover many historic sites is ideally located, however watch out for the wild boars and porcupines on your journeys too and from the house.

The pace is slow, peaceful and completely relaxing, an ideal getaway set in the heart of Italy. Daniela is the best tour guide ever, and with her extremely articulate and knowledgeable manner ensures you shall find the right places to suit you to take a peek at discovering the area that surrounds Antica Olivaia.

You don't have to take my word for it, but for 12 days myself and my son (11 years old) had the most wonderful time, a holiday we shall never forget. We enjoyed it so much so, that we're returning next year (and truly it's not just for Marco's wild boar ragu)..Don't think about it book it, it's a one off, and an experience you'll not forget.

We recently stayed one week at Antica Olivaia, and hands-down is was the BEST B&B experience we have had in 20 years of European travel. Daniela and Marco have created the perfect balance of countryside peace, creature comforts and their warm embrace.

The room we stayed in was extremely clean, large (king size bed w/fabulous mattress), real Italian furniture and antique touches and a roomy bathroom. I haven't slept so deeply in a long time, so much so that we struggled to get ourselves in the morning. Our hosts accommodated our jet-lagged appearance at the breakfast table with smiles and encouragement to relax and sleep!

The view is unparalleled especially at sunset. The light of the sun sinking at desk lights up Orvieto and the stars at night are like I've never seen. I even saw the Milky Way for the first time in my life!

Marco's fine cooking and Daniela's charming "hosting" at the dinner table quickly made all of us who were guests (and didn't know each other) friends. So much laughter, full bellies and great stories were shared.

We are already planning our return visit with some friends. A lifetime experience we will seek to repeat again and again.

Truly special, you can't go wrong with Daniela and Marco!
