“Warm and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Antica Olivaia is beautiful place...and Daniela and Marco make it even more so by being so warm and welcoming. I already know I will go back and spend more time there. Our stay felt much too short and I would highly recommend this place as an oasis away from the hectic pace of some of the more touristy areas nearby. We stayed in the Moraiola room which was extremely spacious and had an amazing bathroom with a wonderful rain shower. The view from the room was of the beautiful pool area, which I immediately took advantage of with a nice long swim. They have thought of every detail to make you feel at home from an abundant breakfast with homemade treats to delicious authentic dinners with local ingredients - Marco grilled for us the evening of our arrival which we much appreciated having traveled all day with no urge to hunt down a local restaurant for the evening. We were happy staying there in our new favorite place. Some local wine and a gorgeous sunset made it perfect...we only had to walk to our room after enjoying food and some great conversation together. Daniela and Marco are the extra touch that makes Antica Olivaia so special.

There are not enough superlatives to accurately describe Antica Olivaia. The setting is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The home is elegant comfort, simple and tasteful. Everything has been considered. Breakfasts are delightful, with homemade breads and more. Most of all, Daniella and Marco are incredible: warm, generous and helpful. If you want to relax you will not find a more ideal setting: crystal clear pool, great walking area. We used it as a home base for daily trips to museums near and far; it could not have been more perfect. Also, if you appreciate a well behaved friendly dog and 2 gorgeous cats you'll be happy. If you do not, don't worry, they will not bother you and do not go inside. If you have any thoughts about staying in Italy, this is the place.

We were only able to spend 2 nights with Marco and Daniela and it was too short. They were wonderful hosts and made us feel both at home and like honored guests. The food was superb. The view of Orvietto was quite remarkable and we turned to soak in the view whenever we went out on our little balcony or out onto the grounds. Where else could you relax in the pool and look out and see Orvietto rising from the valley floor. We will return at the first opportunity.

Room Tip: There are only good rooms from what I could see.

My husband and I stayed at Antica Olivaia this May as part of a trip across Italy. Our stay there was one of the highlights (if not THE highlight) of our vacation. The property is beautiful, with views of the Umbrian countryside and nearby Orvieto. The rooms in the renovated farmhouse are comfortable and modern, yet have a rustic charm and a country feel. The best part about Antica Olivaia isn't the lovely atmosphere, however. Its the owners. Daniela and Marco are warm, generous, and spirited hosts who welcome you into their home as they would old friends. We were hoping to spend a day relaxing by the beautiful pool, but due to unseasonably cold weather, we decided we'd rather head out and explore Umbria. We didn't know specifically what we wanted to see, but Marco and Daniela were eager to share their knowledge of the area and helped us create an itinerary for a perfect day trip, with visits to cute and less- touristed hill towns.

Definitely plan to stay for dinner at Antica Olivaia. Marco is an excellent chef, and we opted to have dinner there two of the nights. When Marco heard that my favorite dish is Bucatini Amatriciana, he put it on the menu for our second dinner, and even taught me how to make the dish. Daniela is also talented in the kitchen, and is a wonderful baker, making her own jams and jam tarts for breakfast. Daniela and Marco also press their own olive oil from the trees on the property, and we bought multiple bottles to take home for ourselves and for gifts.

I know there are dozens of other glowing reviews of Antica Olivaia, but given our wonderful experience, I felt compelled to add on one more- I can't recommend Antica Olivaia enough!

Antica Olivaia is THE place to be. Perfect to wind down and relax. Breathtaking views and peaceful surroundings. Daniella and Marco are passionate hosts - Our room was large, spotless and very comfortable. The food was lovingly prepared and absolutly delicious - you will certainly not go hungry !!! Our Fox Terrier Archie was also made very welcome - had freedom to run around and a good friend in Miles the pup.
Very special place and family - unforgetable !

Absolutely perfect! I have a perfect weekend getaway at Antica Olivaia. The bedroom was very comfortable and even without any air-conditioning comfortably cold (outside it was 35+!!), so needed an extra blanket as well to be able to sleep... The bed was more than comfortable and there was also a daybed as well. The bathroom had only shower, but this was more a plus for me. Marco is an excellent cook (the rabbit with roast potatoes was a winner!) and Daniela's amaretto semifreddo's was a perfect finish to the dinner! And the family dog, Miles, is a gentle giant. Good with kids and adults as well. The farm proximity to Orvietto (what a view of this town from the property!) and almost centrally located in Umbria makes a perfect base for exploring the nearby towns and Umbria (even further out). Will be returning!

What a fabulous three days we spent in this beautiful scenic B & B. The room was so spacious that it was equal to, if not better than, the four star hotels we stayed in during our month long trip in Italy. Daniela and Marco made us feel like home. The dinners were fantastic, with local and organicly grown vegetables from their garden. A sparkling pool and pets to love on Miles the dog and Quilt and Lucy the firendly cats. We did not want to leave and plan a return next year. Unforgettable!! Thank you for the memories!!!!
