Booked a week in September only 3 weeks before we went. Car hire from Pisa trip to Montepulciano and then on to Borgo Tre Rose.
Nice pool, nice countryside (mainly Tuscan rolling hills and vineyards), very nice food and good wine. A tip is that the basic Montepulciano wine is fantastic - by all means go for the Nobile and the Brunello, but we found the basic local wine from the vineyard we stayed on very nice and for me that is their USP. We also went on the Borgo Tre Rose wine tasting tour and there was sufficient food and wine on offer to not have to bother with dinner!
Montepulciano has its main square right at the top of the town and it's worth the walk for the best views, buildings and restaurants. Cortuna was a good day out, with many lunch options - we chose a fantastic Pizza restaurant just off the main square. Castillano de Lago made a good day out too and we got bread, olive pate, cheese, ham and salami for a 'top' picnic. We also went to Pienza (home of the Pecorino ewes milk cheese) for a day out and again this was very nice with the town layout in the idealised "golden ratio" but you have to get there early to find a good place for lunch as the town closes down for siesta.
All in all, the holiday was very relaxing and we had beautiful food and wine, and the sun made all the difference, really letting you appreciate the countryside and the pool area. The only down-side for me was the lack of wi-fi availability, but they do let you check your emails on the PC at reception.
