“Magnificient Views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2015

This sweet little inn is well located in Montepulciano....laundry next door, restaurants a stroll away and a delightful innkeeper , Gabriellla. The stairs are plentiful but you will be rewarded with a picture book view. The rooms are clean, the beds very comfy and bathrooms small but good pressure and plenty of hot water. I would not hesitate to recommend it and I would stay again myself.

Travelling from Australia we had already spent 2weeks in Italy and wanted to spend a night in Montepulciano but we had not booked a room anywhere. We happened to walk past Bella Vista and it looked quaint and lovely. It's only about a 100m walk from the main square, wine bars, restaurants and shops. We took a card and called. The phone was promptly answered by Gabriella who spoke English. Within 10 minutes we had a room that was under €100 with a million dollar view of the Tuscan hills. The room was comfortable, warm, clean & private. If visiting again this would be our first choice.

The room was cosy but quite basic. Double Bed was two singles put together and the linens must have been at least 10-15 years old. Apart from that we were happy with the room. The experience itself was a little strange as there was never anyone around. When we arrived we pressed the bell and had to wait 10 minutes for the owner to arrive. Then 2 minutes after checking us in she had gone again. So there was no one at reception from 2pm till 10am the next morning. Nothing wrong with the owner at all. She was perfectly nice. It's just lucky we didn't have an emergency or need any help or advice from her. Lastly, we were only told at checkout that we had to pay by cash as they didn't accept card! Lucky we had that much cash on us! Overall, if it wasn't for the view we probably wouldn't stay here again.

We stayed here in early July and really loved Camere Bellavista and Montepulciano. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and the views are exceptional. We also liked being near the top of the hill and the main square. It was quieter than further down the hill, but still had great restaurants and wine shops. Gabrielle was always friendly and great to work with. We'd definitely stay here again.

Kicked off a two week tour of Italy in Montepulciano and chose to stay in town as we weren't renting a car. For the cost of the room, you cannot get a better view or location! After reading reviews, we knew not to expect a 5-star hotel, but Gabriella far exceeded our expectations. The rooms were clean and sufficient, but the views are out of this world. She was friendly and helpful (we used our I-pad and google translate to communicate) and helped us get to the train station (cheaper than the cab we used to get to Montepulciano). This was by far the best place we stayed in Italy. It was hard to leave Montepulciano. We will definitely stay at Camere Bellavista next time we are in Italy.

Room Tip: Any room with a view of the valley. Top floor rooms have less noise.

I found the rooms to be damp and dingy. My husband felt like we were getting an Authentic experience so I guess it's what your expecting. We were traveling with another couple and had two rooms, one on the bottom level with nice view and the other on the second floor just over the noisy street and front door. Going down the stairs to the bottom room there was a mouldy smell. Gabriella is not there all the time so if you have any questions or concerns you have to wait till she shows up or try to call her. There is no breakfast however she will offer to make a Kurege coffee and bring a muffin for 5 eros. The sheet sets are long past time for retirement, on the whole the place needs some looking after. I would not stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose an upper level room

Despite starting correspondence with Gabriella more than 3 months in advance of our stay and confirming our arrival time (to within a two hour window) one week before our scheduled stay, upon arrival in Montepulciano we were told by Gabriella that there were no rooms for us. She said she had emailed the day prior to our arrival - a time during which we were travelling and had no access to internet - to request an exact arrival time, and when she didn't hear back she gave our rooms away. She refused to look at correspondence records where she assured us there were rooms and then claimed her computer was broken and she couldn't find our emails.

We were travelling in a larger group, and while three rooms were available for a subset of the group (requested separately from the two described above) they were not without disappointment as well. Bookings made by this group dated back more than 5 months before arrival and received assurances that they would have Room #6 with the terrace and other rooms with views. Upon arrival, Gabriella said the rooms requested were not available and our friends were left in small rooms on the basement - granted one had a nice view (but it also came with a pair of dirty underwear under the bed), and another was small and faced onto the main street. Again Gabriella claimed her computer was broken and refused to look at multiple emails from herself guaranteeing a stay that in the end she was too greedy to provide.

Unfortunately this experience soured our impression of Montepulciano, an otherwise wonderful town. Beware of double booking and awful customer service; look elsewhere if you'd like a relaxing and hassle-free stay.
