“Great View, Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2014

We stayed here in early July and really loved Camere Bellavista and Montepulciano. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and the views are exceptional. We also liked being near the top of the hill and the main square. It was quieter than further down the hill, but still had great restaurants and wine shops. Gabrielle was always friendly and great to work with. We'd definitely stay here again.

Kicked off a two week tour of Italy in Montepulciano and chose to stay in town as we weren't renting a car. For the cost of the room, you cannot get a better view or location! After reading reviews, we knew not to expect a 5-star hotel, but Gabriella far exceeded our expectations. The rooms were clean and sufficient, but the views are out of this world. She was friendly and helpful (we used our I-pad and google translate to communicate) and helped us get to the train station (cheaper than the cab we used to get to Montepulciano). This was by far the best place we stayed in Italy. It was hard to leave Montepulciano. We will definitely stay at Camere Bellavista next time we are in Italy.

Room Tip: Any room with a view of the valley. Top floor rooms have less noise.

I found the rooms to be damp and dingy. My husband felt like we were getting an Authentic experience so I guess it's what your expecting. We were traveling with another couple and had two rooms, one on the bottom level with nice view and the other on the second floor just over the noisy street and front door. Going down the stairs to the bottom room there was a mouldy smell. Gabriella is not there all the time so if you have any questions or concerns you have to wait till she shows up or try to call her. There is no breakfast however she will offer to make a Kurege coffee and bring a muffin for 5 eros. The sheet sets are long past time for retirement, on the whole the place needs some looking after. I would not stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose an upper level room

Despite starting correspondence with Gabriella more than 3 months in advance of our stay and confirming our arrival time (to within a two hour window) one week before our scheduled stay, upon arrival in Montepulciano we were told by Gabriella that there were no rooms for us. She said she had emailed the day prior to our arrival - a time during which we were travelling and had no access to internet - to request an exact arrival time, and when she didn't hear back she gave our rooms away. She refused to look at correspondence records where she assured us there were rooms and then claimed her computer was broken and she couldn't find our emails.

We were travelling in a larger group, and while three rooms were available for a subset of the group (requested separately from the two described above) they were not without disappointment as well. Bookings made by this group dated back more than 5 months before arrival and received assurances that they would have Room #6 with the terrace and other rooms with views. Upon arrival, Gabriella said the rooms requested were not available and our friends were left in small rooms on the basement - granted one had a nice view (but it also came with a pair of dirty underwear under the bed), and another was small and faced onto the main street. Again Gabriella claimed her computer was broken and refused to look at multiple emails from herself guaranteeing a stay that in the end she was too greedy to provide.

Unfortunately this experience soured our impression of Montepulciano, an otherwise wonderful town. Beware of double booking and awful customer service; look elsewhere if you'd like a relaxing and hassle-free stay.

My husband and I spent four nights here as a base for our time in southern Tuscany. I hoped to stay in room #6, but the room unfortunately was unavailable for our stay. We instead stayed in room #9 (I think - one of the valley facing rooms on the bottom floor) which still had magnificent views of the countryside. Gabriella was fantastic and very helpful up to and during our stay in Montepulciano. She even let me borrow her cork screw because we had broken ours somehow. Also, she gave us some homemade jam when we checked out. Such a nice touch! The rooms are in a very convenient location and are so reasonably priced. I would absolutely stay there again if we return to Montepulciano. Hopefully next time we can stay in room #6!

Gabriella was a great hostess, room #6 has the most amazing view (well worth the extra few euro's), location is perfect, parking is reserved next to Camere Bella Vista. This in a town that has very little convenient parking places (what was available had quite a hike up to the village). Be patient locating building, it is so worth it once you settle in. No negatives, you will love your stay in this beautiful village.

Room Tip: Room #6 has an outdoor patio, small fridge and the most breathtaking view in this beautiful village.

The best thing about this hotel room was the view. Unfortunately, you have to WANT to be in the roomto enjoy it. Our first day we stayed in a bottom level room. When we arrived, the toilet had urine and feces in it as if the room was not cleaned. The cleanliness of both rooms (including room 6 with the balcony) was filthy. There were several dead bug carcasses & I picked up fresh droppings (I think they were mice droppings but I am not positive) off the floor daily. She did not empty the trash or clean the room & we stayed for 4 or 5 days. We had to ask for toilet paper & that was uncomfortable because Gabriella the owner was screaming and fighting with her husband. The room was very noisy & you could hear footsteps above you & doors slamming at all hours. Not very restful! The best part was Gabriella offered (for a 70 euro fee) to drive us to the Chiusi bus station. She is a crazy driver, was answering 2 cell phones & texting during the trip. The best part was on our last day she knew that the trains were on strike. She did not try to help us at all. Some reviews wrote that she treats you like family - I would NOT agree with this statement. She seemed more concerned about her 35 euros & dropping us off rather than helping us find a solution. She could have made some phone calls & given us some time to figure it out. Her resolution was to drop us off at the train station & for us to wait 12 hours to see if the train might come. There was also a couple of girls that wanted a ride to the bus station but she was not amenable to help them.

Gentile cliente,
