"Average" is relative. We've traveled "around the block" a few times, and, for us, this was, at best, an average accommodation. I must give credit where due - the lovely grounds of this charming physical property are maintained by a very hard working gardner. Bravo! We thank the friendly, courteous and efficient managers, Sayed and Aliyah, for their attention to business. That said, we would recommend to our best friends that they consider staying at a different property in the vicinity of beautiful Montepulciano.
I will share with you the reason - basically, for us, the Villa Cicolina fell short in the area of accommodation. The pretty exterior physical property gives the impression of greater luxury than is provided. We were not comfortable. In their responses to clients' critiques, we read that furnishings are from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Hmm. Think about this. Tables from those periods are fine, but reading chairs? beds? bath furnishings? Our mattress, on a kind of metal camp bed frame, and mattress cover were very thin, the blanket exceedingly tired. "Country chic", as described by another visitor, may sometimes be quite shabby.
We found the bathroom ill conceived. While I did relax in the "traditional" bath, the "curtain" was more for show and cute appearance than for function and my husband was not a happy camper. The bathroom was flooded in every attempt to shower while keeping water in the tub and - don't even try to wash your hair! In addition, the bathroom "mood" lighting was ineffecive.
Breakfasts offered a satisfying selection of yogurts, fruits, eggs, cakes, cheeses and meats. The coffee was very good. However, dinner on the evening of our arrival, was truly inedible. Two gals in the diningroom bragged that they had prepared the evening meal in their "class". If such swill had been served in my school cafeteria, I would have gladly trudged the mile home every day in the snow. Not one element of the dinner served was acceptable and we had to pay for this dumpster fare.

Dear Guest,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with TA users, thank you for your positive and negative comments about our property.
Regarding the notes about the antique furniture, I don't know in which room you stayed, so I cannot explaine about the furniture, but if you send us an email in which you tell us where you stayed, this will help us to revise your comments and improve our services, now the villa is closed for the end of the season and will reopen in the end of March and we are working hard to make mentainence and provide new services which we will pubblish as soon as we are done.
Regarding the dinner, lots of people come here to take cooking class, I think you may disliked the idea that students prepared dinner by themselves, but guests takes notes and help the chef to prepare the evening dinner under his control, but it is almost done by our chef, can you tell us which day you had dinner, so we can revise the menu and see if we can improve that menu please??
Thank you again for helping us to give more attentive services to our future guests and we look forward to welcoming you again at Villa Cicolina.
Best regards
Sayed
