“La Dolce Vita”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

The first time you hear Gio & Ivana say "Welcome to our home" you know you have made the perfect choice for your stay in Tuscany. Our stay in their home was one of the highlights of our Italian vacation. Perhaps it was the view from the window in your room of the spectacular valley below. Perhaps it was the sound of Gio's 1929 Gramophone playing Italian classics. Or perhaps it was just the smile on their faces whenever you saw Gio & Ivana. Whatever the reason, we can't wait to return.

Almost hate to share this beautiful hideaway but just have to for the sake of Gio and Ivana and anyone else seeking the perfect Tuscan escape. This B&B is almost too charming for words. The whole place is perfect from the entrance to the reception to the rooms. There were literally church bells playing when we saw our view of the valley from our room for the first time. Amazing! The breakfast and cappuccino every morning were wonderful and they gave us amazing recommendations for dinner and drivers. We hope to be back very soon!

We stayed in one of the rooms with a better view and boy was it worth it. We couldn't get enough of the view outside the room. Gio & Ivanna welcome you into their home warmly and make you want to stay longer. It is a beautiful house converted to a tourist stay and the alcove, balcony etc is beautifully done. Also incredibly charming is the cappuccino that he gets made with a chocolate powder smiley face for breakfast. Small gesture but something I'll remember for a long time because it was so sweet.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in one of the rooms with a view, its worth it.

The charming Meuble il Riccio had a great deal to do with the fact that Montepulciano was the highlight of our recent trip to Italy.

The hotel is located just steps off the main plaza and is situated in a historic old palazzo that has been completely renovated. We stayed in one of the "superior" suites on the first floor. The room was absolutely stunning with plenty of space, a large bathroom with full bathtub, a loft with a sitting area and a private balcony. The room was spotlessly clean and had a beautiful view overlooking the valley.

Gio and Ivana are a lovely couple and made our visit feel more welcoming. Ivana makes excellent capuccinos and fresh homemade breakfast cakes every morning. Gio has an encylopedic knowledge of the surrounding area and gave us tips for daytrips and excellent driving directions.

Montepulciano is well located for trips to the other Tuscan hilltowns and Siena. Free parking is available about 2 blocks away and there is a laundromat a few blocks away.

We enjoyed our stay immensely and are counting the days until the next time we are able to visit.

Travelled with a friend in July, had 2 huge rooms, both with magnificent views. One with a large terrace to sit on and take in the beauty surrounding us. Montepulciano is like something in the movies, absolutely peaceful and surreal. Gio and Ivana make their guests feel very welcome into their ancient home. Fantastic location for exploring the hilltop walled medieval town and surrounding Tuscany. Very happy with our choice.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with views and terrace. Swimming pool and fitness centre reviews n/a.

Our family of 12 stayed with Gio & Ivanna in early June for two nights. It was terrific. The rooms were wonderful, the views spectacular and the hospitality could not have been better, I am sure we were quite loud on a few occasions while enjoying the wonderful Montepulciano wine. But, Meuble Il Riccio is so nicely arranged that none of the other guests were bothered. We celebrated on the sun deck one evening and the photos will be life long memories for our entire family. Whether traveling as a couple or a family, please do not miss staying at this wonderful place.

We were on our way to Chianti to do some wine tasting and decided to stay in this great town. We did not have a reservation but walked in and the Riccio suite was available. What an amazing room, the view was fantastic, clean and very quiet with the windows closed. We had a church bell in Orvieto the night before that got us up early ! The location is perfect for sightseeing, shopping and tasting many wines around town. Breakfast was traditional bread and meats. We only stayed one night and wish we had time for more. We enjoyed the hospitality of Ivana and Gio they made you feel very welcome and were very helpful

Room Tip: Get The Riccio suite
