The charming Meuble il Riccio had a great deal to do with the fact that Montepulciano was the highlight of our recent trip to Italy.
The hotel is located just steps off the main plaza and is situated in a historic old palazzo that has been completely renovated. We stayed in one of the "superior" suites on the first floor. The room was absolutely stunning with plenty of space, a large bathroom with full bathtub, a loft with a sitting area and a private balcony. The room was spotlessly clean and had a beautiful view overlooking the valley.
Gio and Ivana are a lovely couple and made our visit feel more welcoming. Ivana makes excellent capuccinos and fresh homemade breakfast cakes every morning. Gio has an encylopedic knowledge of the surrounding area and gave us tips for daytrips and excellent driving directions.
Montepulciano is well located for trips to the other Tuscan hilltowns and Siena. Free parking is available about 2 blocks away and there is a laundromat a few blocks away.
We enjoyed our stay immensely and are counting the days until the next time we are able to visit.
