“The best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

I cannot speak highly enough of the il Riccio. The charm, the cleanliness, the hospitality was all exceptional! Montepuluciano is the most beautiful of all the hill towns and the il Riccio sits atop the hill. The view from our window was lovely but it was breathtaking from the roof top terrace. Room size was what to be expected in Italy and very comfortable. They Gio and Ivanah go out of their way to make your experience a great one., very warm people; One morning I asked about music and he cranked up the old phonograph with a record that belonged to his grandfather - I loved it! Another evening we returned with wine we purchased and they gave us an opener and wine glasses so we could enjoy it on the rooftop. Whiile they do charge for breakfast, it is worth it. Very tasty not to mention convenient. Italy is not cheap and you wouldn't be able to purchase a breakfast for that amount at the restaurant (coffee alone!). Given the reasonable price of the rooms - breakfast is a real deal. Yes, the bigger ones give it for free but it is not nearly as good or cozy. They have the rooftop as well as an atrium and sitting area in the main room. Rustic and authentic furnishings. We had difficulty finding the hotel at first but that was our fault for not having a good map and a gps does not work in any hill town.

Love il Riccio and cannot see how anyone could not! Gracia to our host and hostess!!

Room Tip: request a room with a view but keep in mind there will be a series of steps.

“Old-world Tuscan charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

Right off the main piazza at the very top of this hilltop wine-town, the Mueble il Riccio is definitely a "find". Our Superior Room had a balcony with a stunning view over the tile rooftops of Montepulciano and the Tuscan countryside. Very comfortable, well-appointed room. Quiet. The common-room where breakfast is served feels like the main room of an old villa. It is a very open, airy room, with natural lighting. Homemade breakfast pastries baked by hostess Ivana are delicious! The host couple live on-site, and this is very apparent from the care and professionalism with which they run their small inn. Gio welcomes guests to "my home" on arrival. He and Ivana obviously take great pride in their establishment and making their guests feel comfortable and "at-home".
A highlight of our stay was a picnic lunch on our balcony, complete with the famous local Vino Nobile wine.

Room Tip: spring for a "Superior". View is worth it.

“Tuscan Anniversary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

Spent 2 days with Gio and Ivana on our 40 Anniversary. Our room was magnificent, overlooking the valley and the city. Room has been recently upgraded and was very well appointed. Ivana baked fresh pastries each morning for breakfast. They both couldn't do enough to make our stay memorable. Our visit to Tuscany lasted 2 weeks and clearly our hotel in Montepulciano was by far the best. I have attached views from our room and morning breakfasts. You won't go wrong here.

“Coming Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

We have been coming back to Meuble il Riccio for many years now and we have never been disappointed. It is located at the top of Montepulciano on a side street just off the piazza. This historic property has been beautifully renovated and just recently they have added 5 newly renovated rooms. No attention to detail was overlooked. All the rooms are beautifully appointed and very comfortable. There are beautiful views from the rooms and also from the rooftop deck - a must see. The breakfast is sumptuous, located in the beautiful reception room, with delicious Italian coffee - espresso, cappuccino or americano. Gio and Ivana are wonderful hosts and make everyone feel welcome. Gio is an accomplished photographer so check out his photographs. The paintings were done by his father. When we come here we know we can relax because it feels like we are coming home.

“OK stay at Meuble ll Riccio”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

We had an OK stay at this hotel. We've been to Italy several times and this trip has been over 5 weeks long. We enjoyed Montepulciano and the location of Meuble ll Riccio is very good indeed. The hotel is in a historic building which gives it great character, but lacks some creature comforts. Our room was clean, but smal,l and the bathroom was very small. We had some problems with water pressure in the mornings. It can be a long walk from their parking location and up a flight of stairs - it was no problem for us, but anyone with walking issues might have trouble. I felt the 8E breakfast was overpriced, but of course you don't have to purchase the breakfast. We've stayed in over 20 inns, hotels and b&b's this trip and I would rate this hotel was average to good in comparison.

Dear Guest,
thank you for your opinion. We work very hard to improve the quality of your stay here at Meublè IL RICCIO and we do our best for our guests. Unfortunately, some defects not depend on us but from the structure: the stairs, the measurement of the standard rooms, the size of the bathrooms. For this we made available to our guests THE NEW RICCIO SUITE. Two different facilities with different quality and comfort. So that you can choose the room you prefer.
Hope to see you next time.
Arrivederci.
