A great, small, friendly hotel in the centre of the old town. Car parking available near by. Staff go out of their way to give you information and recommendations. Rooms are very clean and have everything you need. Yes the rooms and the bathrooms are smallish - but very nice all the same. Best of all there is a lift to take your bags up to the 1st and 2nd floors!! After 8 weeks of lugging bags up steep narrow stairs this is bliss.

Our first time in Europe & Italy we enjoyed our whole trip but Montepulciano & Albergo Duomo were the jewel. Saverio did his utmost with his staff were great hosts and always available to assist in making our stay enjoyable. Will definitely make a point of spending time there on our next visit.

We returned to the Albergo Duomo after staying here 2 years ago. This time we had our 29 year old daughter with us. We love this hotel as it is family run and the owner doesn't seem to sleep! He or a family member are always there to help you with anything you want or to answer any questions about what to see or where to eat. The rooms we had were once again immaculate, comfortable and a good size including the bathroom. We were even upgraded on both rooms since there were rooms available and we had been there before! The breakfast is delicious and has many choices as you enjoy eating it on the back outside patio. The hotel is right down from the main piazza so it's close to everything. As we were leaving our daughter said because the price is unbelievable for a Tuscan hotel that travelers should make this their home base for visiting Tuscany since the bus stop is right at the bottom of the hill. Montepulciano is a wonderful town with beautiful views over Tuscany and Albergo Duomo is a great compliment to the town.

We arrived at our country hotel, Agriturismo Ardene, just outside of Montepulciano only to find the owner had closed it for the month of October. Neither she nor the company we booked with told us, nice! It was 5pm and needed to find somewhere to stay.
Alessandro was dealing with another client when we clattered into reception at Albergo Duomo but very politely acknowledged our presence. He was so helpful and sympathetic with our problem. He offered us a standard room to start at just 70€!, then he found a superior room at €100 which we jumped at. The hotel is superb. Clean, tidy, friendly, lovely inclusive breakfast - with homemade cakes and tortilla. It is right in the town so very convenient for the shops, restaurants, parks Andries tasting houses. Superb?

We loved our visit to Montepulciano and one of the highlights was our stay at the Albergo Duomo. Saverio (owner) and Alessandro (Front Desk) were super helpful - they helped plan our day trips, gave great restaurant recommendations and made reservations for us, and helped us understand and appreciate this amazing city. Breakfast in the garden was very special - a beautiful European setting with vibrant flowers. The hotel itself is steeped in history and very comfortable, and it was a perfect location to start our tours of the city and surrounding areas.

Saverio and Alessandro - thank you for making our Montepulciano week so special!

I brought 6 women to Montepulciano as part of my Happy Wives' Travel Club week-long tour of Tuscany and all 7 of us very much enjoyed our stay at the Albergo Duomo. The rooms were nice, bright, and clean. Simple decorations, but not lacking Tuscan charm. Firm mattresses, but not uncomfortable. Small bathrooms, but average size for Italy (and also clean). Lots of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. Mini fridge in room was restocked daily with a bottle of water, which was also very appreciated. (Larger liters of water could be purchased at the front desk.) Fantastic breakfast spread (which was included in our room price) included cereals, made-to-order coffee, juice, salami, breakfast breads, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, and more. They even had a box of gluten-free cereal for me and others with wheat allergies/celiac! (Grazie mille!!) Saverio, the owner, was very helpful in making dinner reservations for us (and even bearing with us when we changed our mind and had to cancel our original reservations and make new ones at a different location.) Saverio really appreciates it when guests can pronounce his name correctly, so let me help you: it's "sah-VAIR-ee-oh". ;-) Alessandro, who also works the desk, always had a smile and was very gracious to our group as well.

Only negative I could list would be that the walls are a little thin, and the hallways echo a little, so you could hear when people came/went from their rooms. But I think most Italian hotels are this way, at least the older ones that have all the character. Our group and the other guests staying at the Albergo Duomo did their best to be quiet, so I have no complaints, just wanted to note that if you're sensitive to noise, you may want to bring earplugs. Also, if your room overlooks the street, the occasional cars that go by really echo in the narrow alley, so if your window is open, you get an earful. But with the window closed, you really don't notice the street noise. (I personally kind of like waking to the sounds of the town!)

I will definitely be bringing more tours back to Montepulciano and have us stay in the Albergo Duomo. Beautiful town, charming hotel. Couldn't ask for better. Ciao!

We booked this hotel as it seemed to offer the best value for money accoring to reviews, and we were not sorry. They offer free parking close by, which a relief. The room, whilst on the small side, was very clean and very comfortable. The hotel recommended a great restaurant for dinner and the hotel's breakfast offered a good selection for 5euro.
