“hotel reale offers unbeatable value for your money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

We stayed in montecatini terme for 5 days in hotel reale during our trip through tuscany.
Given the normal travels we do for business or "all in" vacations/resorts, the first impression was a bit different. This is really a city hotel, that has some years on it, but after that initial impression, we found this hotel to be very good, and given the price we paid, I would even call it amazing. The hotel room was clean and spacious (we stayed there with a family of four) and had airconditioning and a refrigerator. it wasn't the most modern decorated room, but in summer in italy you live usually go to live outdoors. The pool area was clean, and towels were provided. The reception was always staffed en very friendly. The breakfast was good, and eggs were server to the order which ensured a fresh taste. We didn't have lunch or dinner in the hotel, but the option is available. The location of the hotel is ideal, right in the centre, but far enough away to avoid the noise. We could take the kids for a walk to teh restuarants or go for a starting drink by foot, and did not need our car at all to get around in the town. I would recommend this hotel for people travelling through tuscany and looking for a central place to stay, to go on day trips, with the convenience of a pool.

GOOD- THE locatin is good for walking around the city center. The city is quite expensive.
The breakfast is good - fresh and varied products, efficient breakfast team.
The hotel is clean. It has a nice garden with big trees.

BAD- The shower at our room was so small we could not bend! If you don't want to pay 10 Euro per night (for the hotel's parking) it is very hard to find a public parking!! The water at the swimming pool is small and nice but the water are- freezing cold!!! (I couldn't go in! and my son got a cold after swimming there). There is no design or decoration at the rooms. no free wi fi and only 4 TV channels (only one of them in English) at our room.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Reale for 10 wonderful days in early
August 2012. We had a superior room that was large, clean, well
appointed, and updated with 24 hour air-conditioning that we could control that kept the room cool and comfortable when the windows or terrace doors were kept closed. This is important when travelling through Italy during the summer months since many hotels shut the air-conditioning off during periods of the day or night and/or regulate the coolest temperature that can be set, often at a temperature that is not sufficiently cool. This is not the case at the Hotel Reale. There was also a three speed ceiling fan that enhanced our comfort level, a flat screen TV with ample cable programs and a small refrigerator. The bathroom was clean and well equipped for all our needs and even contained bath robes. The location of the hotel
is excellent. It is on a quiet, elegant side street, close to parks cafes
and shops. We walked back to our hotel each evening and felt
completely safe. The city is safe, clean, just lovely. We loved the
garden where you could sit and unwind from a busy day. Several evenings
we had a glass of wine under the large shade trees just enjoying the
beautifully lit garden and an Italian evening. I loved the pool area.
There were amble lounges and towels. The pool was delightful and
completely tiled. I made sure to swim often during our stay. The staff
was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Everyone wanted to make our stay
special. The owners were always there and even ate in the main dining
room with their guests. The dining at this hotel is really special.
Breakfast is a complete, full, varied buffet. My husband ordered bacon and eggs each day, which were cooked just the way he likes it at no additional cost. Breakfast is included in the price of the room. On one occasion when I had an early morning tour departure, the owner arranged for me to have breakfast earlier than the scheduled breakfast hours. We ate at the hotel most evenings. The dinner was moderately priced and delicious. You had a choice and new menus were printed and provided daily. There were usually three selections for the first course, three selections for the second course and a choice of fresh fruit or a set dessert. There was an ample selection of wines at additional moderate cost. The food was served elegantly and the servers dressed in proper wait attire. Dinner was an enjoyable and relaxful experience.

After a few days at the Hotel Reale, we felt quite at home and able to concentrate on the delightful and varied amenities that Montecatini Terme and the surrounding area of Tuscany had to offer. A stay at the Hotel Reale will not disappoint. We recommend it highly!

Room Tip: Our preference is a front room overlooking the garden/pool area.

The negatives:
The staff doesn't speak english. The breakfast is very poor (2 type of bread, 2 jam, butter, 1 type of meat and cheese, some cereals, no vegetables), the coffe was terrible. The whole city is really loud at night, so we can't sleep, only 3 hours. The bathroom was in really bad condition. We booked 3 nights, but we left the hotel after 1 (terrible) night. The pool is really small.
The positive:
The price, and the cleanless.

Dear Customer, we are sorry that you got such a negative impression about your stay with us and we apologize in not having realized your discomfort in sleep quality. Montecatini is normally very quiet, unfortunately that night there was a special event in town and therefore a bit of “confusion” is understandable.
As far as the hotel services that you disagree, it sounds strange. Other customers that were present in the same period have appreciated very much, as you can see from other reviews. Our breakfast buffet is rich and genuine: there are bread, rolls, 6 kinds of jam, honey, 3 kinds of cereals, croissants empty and filled, homemade cakes, biscuits, fresh and canned fruit, yogurt, 3 kinds of meats such as ham, mortadella and salami, 4 types of cheese, croutons, tomatoes and lettuce, boiled or scrambled eggs prepared at the moment, fruit juices, cappuccino, coffee, hot and cold milk. Maybe you are right, coffee from automatic machines is not as good as “espresso”, but our Staff is at disposal to bring a cappuccino or coffee from the bar.
Our pool is small, that’s true, but there is plenty of space around for relax in the shade of trees or for sunbathing.
If you wish, we are glad to see you again, to show you our best hospitality as ever.

I decided to book this hotel for a very short stay, as I wanted to treat myself with a couple of days of total relax, and I found precisely what I was looking for. Far more than a mere 3 stars, Hotel Reale is very clean and comfortable. I had a single room, since I was travelling alone, and it was nice, well furnished (included a LCD TV and air-conditioning) with a large-windowed bathroom, a very good mattress and a wide terrace which looked over all Montecatini's rooves.
I planned essentially to stay there, quietly and calmly, read my books and profit of the hotel swimming pool - which was, actually, what it happened. The hotel pool is large enough, very clean, with hydro-massage. It is located within the garden, with ancient palms which grant an oasis of shade for those who are not so keen on tan. However, should you be the sun-bathing type (and definetely I was), the swimming-pool area is provided with deckchairs and sunbeds which - together with small tables all around - grant for an afternoon of total self-care.
Furthermore, the staff is very professional: friendly and cheerful: ready to help if you ask them for. Unfortunately, since I had planned to go out for dinner both the first and the second night, I could not treat me with the hotel cousine, which actually seemed lovely. However, having tasted the rich and extremely various Breakfast Buffet, I would suggest Hotel-Reale also for a half or whole boarding stay.
All in all, an extremely luxuous experience at a more than convenient price. I'll definitely come back.

We stayed here from 01 August 2012 for seven nights.  Hotel Reale is ideally situated, close to the town centre and all amenities, but no noise at night.  There are 54 rooms, with all the facilities you could need.  Superior room types are available on request, for an additional fee - these rooms are larger, have a balcony or terrace, minibar, pool robes etc..  The hotel is family run, very efficient in all respects, but at the same time friendly and pleasant - nothing is too much trouble, you only have to ask.  We had breakfast every day in the hotel, there is a great self service buffet choice - cereals, breads, cold meats, fruit, cheese, tea, coffee, fruit juice, yogurt etc..  If you would like fried or scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage etc., this is served to your table.  Although we did not eat lunch or dinner in the hotel (huge choice of nearby restaurants / away on day trips a lot) the menu looked good.  The garden area at the front of the hotel has lots of seating and tables, and with plenty of shade from the mature trees is an excellent spot to relax, read a book or enjoy a drink from the bar.  The pool area is compact, but easily big enough for the number of people sunbathing or swimming.  There are plenty of sun chairs and loungers, pool towels are provided, or you can use your own.  Top marks to the housekeeping staff, everything is kept spotless, indoors and out.  We spent a long time researching TripAdvisor and similar, when choosing where to stay in Montecatini - even so, you can never be sure you have made the right choice before your stay.  I will say without any hesitation, this was a brilliant choice, we loved it and would definitely stay here again.  Look no further, book this hotel now!
