3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2012

the room looked just like in the pictures BUT it was So dark, the window drapes were lovely, but you couldn't move them to let daylight in, plus there were shutters on the outside CLOSED shutters. there were energy saving bulbs in every light, so we had to wait for them to get bright, not that they did, the table lamp by the door automatically went off within 10mins ... we were on the 1st floor at the back and the noise at pub closing time was as if they were in the room with us, probably 'cos football was on TV a lot. we could open the bathroom window, but as that was where the noise was, it wasn't feasable . lots of mirrors thou, so if you like looking at yourself on the loo go to the Columbia...... food Ok if you like pasta starter and fish main every day..... it was in a very good location for getting out and about and staff were lovely,

We recently stayed at the Hotel Columbia in October, 2011 for 7 days in room 209. This is an outdated room with poor decor, bedspread had cigarette holes and stains. Bathroom had a shower stall with a curtain no bigger than 3 feet by 3 feet. Be forewarned, not all of the rooms look like what is posted on the hotel website. Room 209 was very poor. We could hear the people in the room above us. On a postive note the hotel is located in a great area, the restaurant had good food and a nice selection. Montecatani is a great location for visiting Tuscany.

Room Tip: Request an updated room.

Hotel room was lovely. On the small size but I was alone. It was recently updated and the bathroom was new. The sound proof windows kept out all of the street noise. The hotel is only five floors so there are not alot of people to make noise.Very small elevator but I used the stairs the majority of time to walk off all the food I was eating. It is located in a well lit, well travelled street with many nice shops and restaurants. Montecatini is about one hour from Florence and Siena and other beautiful Tuscan towns. The restaurant on the fifth floor was fantastic. I sat drinking my blood orange juice looking at a spectular view of hilltop villas - breathtaking. The rooms were always clean.

Room Tip: A couple of the people of my tour were not happy with the size of their rooms and after they asked t...

Great location, ideal centre for visiting Florence, Pisa, Sienna etc. Spa under Funicular is worth a visit - beautiful surroundings. Would choose to go later in year, very hot and humid in July.

As a coachdriver I stayed in this hotel with a group of 21 seniors from Holland. We had a great time in the hotel: a very tastfull interior including the rooms with all comfort.
Especially we enjoyed the personal service in the restaurant where you enjoy a beautiful view over the hills and Montecatini Alto.
From Montecatini you can visit beautiful cities like Lucca, Pisa, Firenze or San Gimignano.

For groups with a coach it is not very easy boarding or unboarding because coaches are only allowed to stop for maximal 15 minutes about 150 meters further on.
