“Wonderful Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

This is an UNESCO site ... a wnderful Hotel built in 1870. The rooms a size + fantastic bathrooms. The staff was friendly and the food excelled, but was a limited menue due to low season. The clientel is mainly Italian, Russian & Ukrainian the latter two with body guards. The only negative are the pillows that are really hard and sheet quality could be better. This Hotel is no longer under the Leading Hotels of the World

Room Tip: Choose garden side less noise

A grand époque hotel offering impeccable old world service and a delicious table. Set in its own park with swimming pool, tennis, and state-of-the-art spa, The locations offers an easy drive to Florence, Sienna, Pisa, Luca etc., and medieval Tuscan walled hill towns. We have been returning regularly for more than thirty years. That should speak for itself.

We stayed in this hotel for 7 nights in November 2011. Hotel is located in the center of the city in the walking distance to many attractions and to the great restaurants. This is a really "grand hotel" it is old but beautifully decorated. If you are looking for a modern hotel, this should not be your choice. But if you enjoy staying in old fashion luxury hotel you will like the Grand Hotel&La Pace. Our room was large by European standards with good size bathroom with all necessary amenities and 2 large windows. The Customer Service was very good including the front desk, restaurant and housekeeping employees. We had breakfast included in our room rate and really enjoyed variety of options. Free parking was helpful. The only problem we had was with WIFI internet in our room. We were told that the WIFI signal from the lobby doesn't reach our floor. But we were able to use WIFI in the lobby without any problems. Normally there is a charge for using internet but since it didn't work in our room they gave us free internet in the lobby. We also used hotel's SPA and was satisfied with the services. I will stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: Corner suites are large and sunny. If you like to open windows ask for a room away from main street

Fabulous hotel with even better staff. If you want to spend some time just being made to feel special then it is the place to visit.
It is as another reviewer says 'old world charm'. Don't expect anything new. Everything is antique. The service is second to none.
On the downside, everything additional to your room cost is very expensive. 15 euros for a wine and a beer!

If, like us, you have booked this hotel on the basis of its five star rating, then adjust your expectations now. While you book in, take a look at the threadbare rugs on the floor of the reception area. This will prepare you. A visitor from the early 1900s would still recognise the opulence of the parquet flooring in the rooms, the 15 foot high ceilings, the high windows, the golden chandeliers and the ornate ironwork. For modern visitors, the faded glory soon loses its appeal. It would not be a surprise if the furniture in our room had come from Tuscan junk shops in the 1970s, probably about the time the 15 inch portable TV had been installed. Good points: yes, it’s close to the station (actually about a 5-10 minute walk), everyone speaks good English, the room was kept very clean and there is a swimming pool. Bad points: they charge a fortune for anything and everything, there was no kitchen available when we travelled so watch out for the 45 euro pp charge for congealed pasta, there’s only BBC world news available on the TV, the wireless internet availability is variable (don’t expect much at busy periods), the bath/shower is too small and the furniture was uncomfortable. Do not expect any facilities for children. In summary, a five star hotel should be luxurious; with money and Italian style this could be gorgeous, right now it is an anachronism.

I've been two nights in Montecatini in this wonderful hotel.

The hotel is very close to the train station ( Montecatini centro) two minutes walking. Is sourrunded by a very big park where you can find space to relax and if you love tennis, there is also a tennis pitch. As you get in you can see that this hotel is very charming, has got a huge hall, dinning and breakfast room. All the staff is very helpfull. My room was at first floor with a balcony looking at the inner garden, had wooden floor, air conditioning and sky tv. The toilet very clean and totally comfortable. At the first floor you can also find the Spa with swimming pool, beautician and gym. I also had dinner at La Pace wich was top class too.

So I cannot do anything else than recommend this amazing hotel.
