“Could be great, but just plain lacking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2014

We stayed at this hotel 2 nights on a 7 night/8 day tour of Italy. It was by far the least acceptable of the 4 hotels we stayed at, and, frankly, I don't expect much in a European hotel. The front desk staff was borderline rude, especially considering they are getting steady business from the touring company, and we were doing our best to be cordial and pleasant. The rooms are an acceptable size (we were in the older section) and our bathroom was large as it was handicapped accessible. The furniture was shabby, the bed uncomfortable, the wallpaper peeling. The hotel was way too warm overall. AC was no longer on and the weather too warm for heat. We even had the towel warmer turned off to lessen an overheated bathroom. The hotel itself is kind of quaint and with a little love and elbow grease could be a really sweet place. It's a shame it's gotten so seedy. The Bocca di Bacco Bar in the hotel courtyard is really hopping and high energy with local young people on Friday and Saturday nights. Be ready for the noise of the DJ and the roar of the crowd. We enjoyed the experience at the bar, but clearly others in our tour group were not so pleased with the noise level (it didn't cease until well after 2AM). Breakfast here had the least variety of any of the 4 hotels we stayed at and was the least appetizing in appearance. We had a tour dinner at this hotel that was average at best. If you are not intimidated by traveling outside a tour group, the hotel is very convenient to the train station and it's only a 20 minute relatively inexpensive trip to Venice. (Be sure to be on watch on your return to the hotel though, as late at night the stations were neither announced nor projected on the screen. So you need to be watchful to make sure you get off at the correct stop. The "local" riders were genuinely helpful in this respect. Just politely ask them to assure you don't miss your stop.) Mogliano was a pleasant little town and it beats dragging luggage by train to Venice.

Same as a Mandy y said. We got a really good deal on flights and hotel for four nights so we were not expecting much but it was all only ok.
The room is basic and a bit tatty but things work sufficiently (couple of things that didn't and the staff came and fixed or sorted somehow) and its clean, the bed is the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in it was so hard we had to put blankets under the sheets to lay on. Luckily there were spare blankets in the wardrobe. It's quite noisy you can here the other guests going up and down the corridors throughout the night and early in the morning as the doors all slam so they shut automatically which can't be helped I guess.
The staff were all lovely. All very welcoming and happy to help. The continental breakfast was really good and set us up nicely for the day. Thank god they had English tea after that bad nights sleep
The hotel is in a great location right by the train station a 2 minute walk and same for the bus stop. Bus to Venice is about 50 mins and costs €3.50 each and train takes about 25 minutes and costs €2.50 each. Both are good ways to travel but my first choice would be the trains.
The local town is very nice though not much there apart from shops but be sure to have a look around and have a coffee and cake in one of the cafes locals are nice too.
I think it's a bit naughty to advertise as 4 star as the part we stayed in really is not (or might have been 10 years ago) and it should state this but for the price it was fine and didn't dampen our time in the Venice area at all.

Room Tip: Either pay the extra for a better room. Or go cheap and put up with what you pay for and don't l...

This hotel is not that bad. It looks nice from the outside and the reception looks good. We got a really good deal here and so we were not expecting too much. the room was ok, basic as others have said, but clean, and the cleaners came in every day and tidied up and cleaned bathroom. Unfortunately our room was right above the opposite restaurant and bars and so the music and loud speaking was offputting till about 11.30 (we were shattered after all walkiing in venice!) The room was extremely warm, uncomfortably so, but you couldn't open the windows because of the noise?
The breakfast is continental style, but it is very good, lots of selections - pastries, cakes, fruit, cold meats, cheeses, cereals, teas, coffees, juices, breads etc. The hotel is about 20 mins train drive from Venice, the station a 5 min walk from hotel. It costs 2.50 each way. This would have worked well, but there was a strike on which was a bit of a pain one of the days, but the other days it was fine. It is actually quite nice staying out of Venice, which is expensive and noisy!
I would probably recommend this hotel if you get a good deal.

Room Tip: we were in room 203 so not that side!

Was not sure of what to expect when we arrived but we where plea surly surprised.Once we got our feet on the ground and did some homework. Food and traveling became a breeze station less than 5 min away and Venezia a twenty min ride on the train and at €2.50 single for two of us bargain compared to RIP OFF Britain.Meals where enjoys at Ai Portici not highly rated on here due to poor service but well worth the wait food was really good. The bar opposite the hotel Bocca di bacco well worth a visit. All good.

As 62Martin said before, we had the same surprise when checking in! The hotel has two buildings, a new one for the deluxe/executive rooms and an old one for the classic rooms. We had no idea about that, no information on the hotel web site or other booking site. We were delighted by the reception area and the breakfast area while checking in and then we were told that our room is in the other building, an old and dirty one, with a separate entrance. The room is very small, with old furniture, nosy AC and dust all over the place. After complaining about it at the reception they told us that the room was not actually cleaned before and they changed the blanket (that is all improvement we got). The writing desk and the bathroom furniture are really old and have scratches all over, the bed is huge but you get only one blanket and a sheet, there are spiderwebs all over the place. The bathrooms is big but dirty, stained walls and glass, dirty garbage can and stained bathtub. The room has a mirror on the wall that is stained and has black marks, I have no idea why they keep it there. There are no glasses, no amenities, the rooms are dark and the view we had was an old abandoned terrace. The doors are locked with a key, basically no security system whatsoever in the old bulding. The only plus was the fact that the train station to Venice is 5 min walk away and you are right in the centre of the little city. The wifi is very poor.
This is definetly NOT a 4 stars hotel, the old building is at a 2, maximum 2+ stars standard. It is a huge booking scam, because you have no information about the old part of the hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid the old part of the hotel, please ask before booking!

This hotel has two parts - older and newer. Of course, there are no pics of the older at Booking.com or official hotel´s website. You will see it just when you arrive. You have no choice between those two parts when booking. Personnel gave me room in the older part automatically. It was total crap. Extremely old and damaged bathroom, damaged and dirrty walls, shabby furniture, non-functional air condition and musty smell in whole building. This part of hotel has nothing to do with 4 stars, 2 stars would be enough.
I was absolutely disappointed and left this hotel after first terrible night.

Room Tip: Be careful and don´t book room called "Classic". Photographs are fake, you will get someth...
