This restaurant, which is located at the 1st floor of a building in the very centre of Milano Marittima, was a great surprise for me and my friends. it isn't particularly cosy or attractive. It looks like a canteen, a self-service restaurant, and that's good news: it doesn't do anything to hide the real purpose of the place, which is to serve cheap and fresh fish to tourist. Fish which is cooked by a cooperative company of local fishermen.
After a reasonably long queue (a tip: arrive early if you want to avoid a long wait), you can choose between 3 or 5 dishes: 2 appetizers, 1 pasta and 2 main courses. Portions aren't abundant and the choice is already made by the restaurant; you can visit their website to see what's their daily offer. However, you spend a maximum of 12 euros (10 if you choose 3 dishes); bread, water and white sparkling wine are included.
The day we went there, the menu comprehended: sea-food risotto, mussels, anchovies with peppers in white vinegar, mixed grill fish with salad and fish fry.
One last piece of advice: if you can, avoid going there in August. During that month the fishing boats aren't allowed to go fishing in the Adriatic Sea; as a consequence, all the food is imported from other Regions of the country.
In conclusion: if you look for a place where substance prevails over appearance, this is the right place to go. You can save money for an ice-cream during your after-dinner stroll...
