“A great place close to the train station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

By staying 2 nights at the Hotel Ambasciata in Mestre we save at least 100 euros vs staying in Venice. The hotel is a short walk from the train station which means you can be in Venice within less that 45 minutes. Since the trains run well into the night you can enjoy a full day of sight seeing and dinner in Venice and then leave the crowds behind.
Our room was very clean and comfortable. There is also a lift that makes getting to the upper floors a breeze. The staff are very informative and pleasant. The breakfast room is a bit small but the breakfast is good. a big bonus is that the hotel is Air Conditioned. We tried to book one more night for when we were returning from a cruise but unfortunately they were sold out. I would recommend this hotel if you wish a good, clean comfortable place to stay and save money.

Good, clean and big enough room. Very nice breakfast and close enough to the train station (just a 5 minute walk). The staff is very nice.

Just one tip: you need to check-in before 11 p.m. After 11 p.m. there is no staff member.

Very nice hotel with clean room and nice breakfast (fruit, cheese, meat, good coffee). 5 minutes by walk to train station and 12 minutes to Venice Santa Lucia (by train). Staff friendly and helpful.

My husband and I stayed here two nights as we were travelling by car and wanted a location with parking close to Venice. The train station is 5 mins walk away and trains go regularly to venice, it's only a 10 minute trip. The hotel was simple, cheap and basic. Our room was right next to the dining room so a little noisy in the morning but we weren't wanting to sleep in anyway. Staff were friendly. If you're after a budget way to visit Venice then we would recommend this hotel. The breakfast was very average.

The hotel is located near the station, but it's in a quiet location. Perfect for people travelling to Venice and at the same time away from the tourist area. The hotel staff is very kind and polite.

We had a problem with the hanger, it fell down to the floor, because it wasn't fixed very good on the wall.

this was a birthday surprise from my boyfriend, when i looked at the hotel pictures i was a bit sceptical at first because the pictures were a bit basic, but when we arrived i was greatly surprised at how nice and clean the lobby and rooms were. the room was very clean and when we would leave and come back to the hotel the room was extra clean and fresh and they would spray an extra lemony fragrance in the room. the hotel was in a good location and was key because it was very good if you need to go to the venice main town, and the bus stop is actually outside the hotel which is really handy. the staff were extra friendly and any problem we had they were there to help. for example if we had to book a bus pass for the mainland and for the water buses/ taxis and they helped us to book for the whole three days we were there. the venicians were very friendly because when we went to Rome and Milan the Italians there were very prejudice and racist and would repeat things in English and Italian that i do not wish to repeat.

Room Tip: get a tourist map as soon as you arrive a marco polo airport in venice, because as soon as you get t...

The hotel is located few streets away from Mestre train station, little hard to walk to as the pedestrian way is obstructed by several car parked on the pedestrian walk and for going up and down crossing the streets, it is not very comfortable but is not a big problem.
The hotel it seam to be just renovated and for this reason is nice, with a modern and elegant décor, I’ve only stayed 1 night as forced from a cruise company by delaying the arrival time and make me loosing last train, however I would definitely return to this hotel if I must go to Venice either if I would go again on a cruise departing from Venice;
Yes this hotel is saving you a lot of money instead going to Venice old city, and is offering a charming and comfortable accommodation, if you decide to spend few days before cruising you can stay here and take the train to go to Venice or Padova, are many trains all day to go and came back, is it also more convenient to go to the cruise terminal from this hotel by taxi rather than from S.Marco square or anywhere else staying in Venice.
Breakfast is good quality even for a 3 stars hotel with a little bit of everything, I cannot say any suggestions about the area as that night was awful fog weather and you couldn’t see anything around, we went out for a pizza nearby but I will suggest not to go there as it seams to be kind of balcanic’s manager and employee, felt little dangerous and we where the only guests at 10pm on Saturday night!!!!!!!!!, maybe it is better to ask at the hotel where to go instead to go where your feeling telling you to go………we paid 55eur per room and it was certainly a bargains price for what offered, the perfect deal.
Only some little disappointing matter do not let me give to them a 5 stars rating, but it’s a minor issue e not so important, like the volume of the TV set at 10 and very low for listening, the minibar was refurbished only with few bottles of water and 1 fanta and the shower box it is smaller that usual making difficulty to move inside the box, therefore as I said in advance are minor things and not to be worried about the quality of the accommodation.

Room Tip: avoid room 304 as it as a next room bathroom just beside your bed and you can heard everything happe...
