“Good place to stay with family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

This hotel is five minutes to walk to the bus station. Travel time to the center of Venice about 10 minutes. Clean and quiet room, free parking, free Wi-fi internet in the room works well. No minibar. Restaurant was OK.
Receptionist gave as all necessary information. You can buy bus and vaporetto tickets right at front desk. The person who met us spoked excellent English.

“Simple hotel, great location to Venice, excellent service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

We chose this hotel mainly because of its location to Venice. Saying that, I think this is probably why this hotel can charge four star prices for its two star rating. I must say though, they do have a good location, only 10mins by bus - just outside the hotel, or 5mins by car. The hotels in Venice are notoriously expensive and if your travelling on a budget or would prefer to spend the money you will save on something else, this is the hotel for you. The room is clean and very simple, a bed and four walls. The staff at this hotel are very very helpful, yes two very's! The guy at the front desk speaks four languages fluently, possibly more! English, French, German and Italian...of course. The staff here also gave us really good tips on where to get the best prices for the gondola rides, trips around Venice to the lagoon islands and much much more, they honestly could not have been more helpful. I was happy to pay for the four star prices of this two star hotel simply because of the excellent customer service.

“our aniversary holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

We chose the San Carlo Hotel because we were flying into Treviso Airport. It proved to be a good choice as the the hotel was clean & comfortable, the breakfasts were very good & the staff were excellent.
My wife took ill during our stay having eaten something in Burano that upset her stomach,
the staff were most kind and helpful, turning a bad experience into a managable one for us.
We can't praise them enough. should we be able to visit Venice again i would indeed consider staying once more at the San Carlo. A very good holiday.
Thank you all. A penkeyman-smith.

“HOTEL ideal for visiting Venice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

This hotel was accidentally selected by internet and it was the hit! Staff very polite and useful, always ready to help. We bought there bus tickets, they explained exactly how to get to bus stop, where find shopping centre. There was no problem to leave our car longer than our stay in hotel. Rooms are really clean, white bedding, clean nice bathroom even with bidet. Breakfast continental but enought tasty and variety.
I can sincerely recommend hotel San Carlo.

“Blah rooms nice staff, typical Venice gouging.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

The staff was kind and helpful, but I'm not sure that made up for the pricing. We have a 5 yr old and a 1yr old. Something with the booking required us to get a quadruple room. We then had to pay an extra 10€ a nigh for the baby bed...really?! This is what I hate about staying anywhere near Venice! they find everyday to nickel and dime you to death. It just leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

The room was quite large and clean. The bathroom was NOT. My feet were in the shower when I sat on the toilet, and I'm a whopping 1.53m (5'3"). The breakfast was typical, as in sparse, but if you want good breakfasts don't go to Venice.

It's on a busy street but has double windows so it's really quiet!

There are two busses that run nearby and end in piazzelle Roma so it's easy to get in and out of the city. The taxi to the airport was 40€ for the four of us and our two bags, give or take.

All in all the place is fine, just nothing to write home about. A good inexpensive place to lay your head at night. But they really need to fix the room/occupant issue! And the toilet shower thing!!
