“Surprisingly good hotel 10 minutes from Venice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

We took a cab from the Venice airport to the hotel, and with the directions in the website, there was no problem in locating. I had informed the hotel of my arrival time, and the checkin was smooth. I was surprised to see that the room in this hotel was quite spacious, very clean, and with an equally good bathroom. The bed was huge, and comfortable, and the cupboard was spacious enough to keep all of our things. Venice was quite hot, and the airconditioning in the room definitely helped. The hotel is located in a pleasant and cool place with a lot of trees. There is a church right behind the hotel (the bells might disturb you sometimes).

The bus stop to Venice is just outside the hotel gate. It takes around 10 minutes to get to Piazzale Roma. We purchased a 'Rolling Venice' card which gave us good discounts on the travel fares. The bus to the airport also comes to the same stop, so there should be no problems in mobility.

The hotel provides a decent breakfast with a handful of items, fresh fruits and coffee. The restaurant-keeper was friendly and gave us the right directions to Venice and the airport. The free wifi in the room worked pretty well. The receptionist was friendly, and even helped us print some of our tickets for our onward journeys.

On the downside, there are not much things to do around the hotel in Mestre - not even a restaurant around. You will have to walk a good distance to get to a restaurant or any shop. But, since we spent most of our time in Venice, this did not bother us much.

Overall, this hotel gives good value for money, and promises a pleasant stay on the mainland. I would definitely recommend this hotel on a visit to Venice.

I stayed 3 nights there and all was good, like I expected to be. Clean, quiet, good and plenty breakfast, good coffee, fast internet in the room.
Sunday, the bell had ring a little too often ,but, in return, a nice children chorus in the morning. Beware that nothing is open in MESTRE Sunday evening, then take care of some provisions from Venice !
With the bus 15 minutes to Venice, but in the night, max.10 minutes (the second stop from Piazzale Roma).
Because this is not for that matter a real HOTEL (nor even a hostel) they have no "stars" then no extra charge for the city ! The room was big, the bathroom the same, the water hot, the bed "king size" with a good mattress and white good smelling sheets.
Our room was 414 -at the second floor, so we had the morning gym included !
The view was nice too, all you see is trees, all you hear are birds (and the bell, but I like it !!)
It was a little chilly this days, so we ask for a second blanket and the friendly receptionist provided two right away !
And now, they give 4 keys (no 3, like Maria F have wrote) and the last is for the parking door.
They took my money of my credit card, only today, after I arrived home !
The price was good too, I would stay here agaain, than I recommend this place .

Room Tip: for those with legs problems, ask the firth floor !

If you looking for somewhere cheap, friendly, clean, good showers and good location this is the place for you..

So we had to stay in Venice for one night on our way back from a festival in Croatia and wanting something cheap and cheerful but close to Venice so we could see the sights...

So got to the hotel and first impressions were good, was very clean and the receptionist was very friendly giving us maps and showing us the best way to get to the town.. We all had a great nights sleep and the showers were great the next morning and the toilets also very clean.. The bus into town is 100 yards away and is €2.50 to the centre of Venice..

We had to get up at 8am and the breakfast was ready and was great, cold meats, bread, cereal, tea, coffee & croissants etc and to take with you if you wanted...

So we were ready to board our flight back to Dublin and my girlfriend realised she did not have her phone and left it under the pillow in the hotel.. So we rang the hotel when we landed in Dublin and Samuel in the hotel rang us back to say the phone was there and there would be no problem in sending it the following morning and 2 days later it was at my door... So on top of running a very good hotel the owners are also honest..

I looked at alot of reviews of hotels in Venice on here before we left and this is the reason we stayed here and for €30 pp a night you simply can not go wrong for some of the prices of places in Venice...

If you have in mind that this is a former school you'll find interesting staying here. It's a sus generis and multiuse space. When check-in they give 3 keys, one for the room, one for the building and one for the main gate, so that you can freely come in and out (very useful since from 9:00 p.m.there is no one in the reception). It is located in a green area of Mestre, with lots of space for parking. The bus to Venice stops literally in front of the hotel, which is great (the bus runs every 10 minutes). The rooms have a good size, wood floor, a/c, good mattress (in fact are two singles beds together, making it larger and therefore more comfortable) all clean and very quiet, except the Bell Tower of the Church adjacent to the hotel, which plays early in the morning. It's very nice to be surrounded by trees and hear the birds but attention to the mosquitoes. The breakfast is enough, and the internet is free of charge. There is no lift so note the baggage weight...

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the first floor

Firstly, stay in Mestre, not Venice! Venice is expensive and hotels can be FAR from the train/bus station. Alle Lagune has plenty of free parking and is reasonably priced! It is a 15 minute bus ride into Venice.

Pros:

1) Overall great value
2) Good breakfast
3) Parking in gated lot
4) Convenient location, right on bus route, close to small shops and laundromat
5) Good wifi
6) Helpful and friendly staff
7) Refrigerator in room

Cons:
1) Church bells in the morning
2) Reception not always there (e.g. on Sunday)
3) Bed/pillows could be better

I would stay here again.

I stayed there with my wife for three nights. It is nice, quiet, clean and pretty basic. As our main purpose was to visit Venice, we found Alle Lagune perfectly fit for purpose - very easy access to Venice by public transport.

Breakfast - also rather basic but sufficient to keep us going until lunch. Coffee was very good I must admit :-)

Big plus is a spacious parking place made available at no additional charge.

Bottle of wine and (small) basket of fruits was a nice accent.

This place is actually a Hostel, nothing more, nothing less. Rooms are affordable and comfortable, the location is convenient and just a few miles from Venice, complimentary breakfast is offered. Bus stops are at hand and overall the room and the bathroom are decently clean, even if there were drawbacks that have to be reported (hair in the shower, no air-con - at least in the room we've rented, and so on).
I suggest this hostel to people who travel on a budget and want to enjoy the looks and the amenities of Venice at an easy price.
