We and two other couples ate here in September, 2010 and the food was such a disappointment - overpriced and just not good. I had the fish at the recommendation of the staff and it was a tiny fillet that was overcooked and thus dry. I finished with an insalata mista, and it was the first salad in Italy that I have had that was made with iceberg lettuce.

“If you visit one restaurant in Italy, this is the one!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2010

We stayed in Sorento, but explored most of the cities on the Amalfi Coast., Naples and Rome. Our overall experience of the food in every city was mediocre - bland, tasteless, little if no use of herbs (which grow in abundance!), spices, and even garlic. Except for Il Cantuccio - which we stumbled upon going thru Massa Lubrense, a few kilometres from Sorento. It was a feast for the senses - the food was incredible (a garden in the back of the restaurant boasted tomato vines, a lemon tree, herbs and other fresh vegetables) - in fact, the best Italian food we have ever had; the restaurant has a bamboo-covered terrace overooking the sea - priceless view! Service was attentive and friendly (unlike 90% of the other italian restaurants we visited), and the house wine alone is definitely worth the trip! Can't remember the cost exactly, but it was very reasonable.

“The best food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2010

We had a mid-day meal here on the first day of arrival and a dinner later in the week. The food was exquisite. I dream of the pappardelle I had. Service was gracious, welcoming and attentive. For both meals there were large parties of Italians celebrating, with beautiful and well-behaved children playing games in the garden, which overlooks the bay. It couldn't have been more idyllic. All senses satisfied.

“Well prepared fresh produce in a great location with good views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2010

We visited this restaurant twice, on the first day and on the last as it was the best food we tasted all week. Starters / Pasta: Ravioli Caprese was superb, Ricotta clearly very fresh and melted in the mouth, very light tomato sauce. Zucchini stuffed with ricotta. deep fried in a very light batter and served with excellent pesto sauce must be tried. Mozarrella & proscuttio - again very fresh (and large) balls of mozarella with excellent proscuttio. Spaghetti con vongole - excellent spaghetti, good clams.
Mains & desserts: again excellent, veal with lemon sauce melted in the mouth, one of us had a pizza and stated it was the best of the holiday - again fresh ingredients made it.
If you've got room for dessert it's worth it, again excellent flavours.
I got a good view of the kitchen and the set up explained the quality of food, highly staffed and everyone working on prep, pastries and cooking.
Expansive views over the sea towards Capri and Bay of Naples if you're sitting outside.
Service very friendly and "happy" - is that a good way of giving you an idea of the waiters.
We walked to Massa Lubrense from Sorrento (lovely walk through Lemon Groves / Olive Groves - about one and a half hours) had a lovely lunch then walked back - you can get a bus back 100 metres from the restaurant. An absolutely excellent way to spend the day.
Total bill on lunch for 2 was 60euro covering starter, pasta, main & dessert, soft drinks & coffee. Quality and ambience made it feel very good value for money.
