We booked a table earlier in the day as the owner had spoken to use while we were reading the menu and we were greeted with enthusiasm when we arrived. We'd realised that the full Sicilian menu was too much for us and decided to go for main course and side orders. This was the only restaurant we visited during our week in Marsala that offered specials, and I chose Spaghetti con Sarde as we'd seen some sparklingly fresh sardines in the market. It was very good, with lovely pieces of fish and no bones. My friend had pasta with mullet and pistachio cream, also pretty good. The star of the the meal was the caponata: utterly divine melting aubergine, giant green olives and celery in a rich tomato paste. The owner was very chatty, helping us chose which Nero d'Avola to try (Cutaja from Carusa and Minini - delicious) and talking about his sons in London, but never while we were involved in the important matter of eating! A little on the expensive side at E50 but recommended for the welcome and food.
