“It is my dream to come back in Autumn or Spring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

The building with history, it was private villa before, the hotel since 1913, old fashioned style, local marble everywhere. Great views from terrace and platform roof. I am totally agree with this review and thanks reviewer for that: "You can feel it's definitely not new, and there are some things that should be fixed, but you can breath history and the taste of the old-style beach life in Tuscany. Staff is really kind, friendly and helpful. Don't expect luxury rooms, stilish furniture and so on: it's a good old place (and I liked it exactly for this) :-)"
The free bikes. Excellent location. Wi-Fi good enough. Good cuisine. We had half board (breakfast & dinner) and it was not easy to get hungry:) Fortunately we (my sister and me) could swim a lot:)

Only one minus: noisy street, especially at the weekend (the end of June is really starting a high season, it is my dream now to visit this hotel in September-October:)

Room Tip: Next time I am going to ask about a mountain view room. I hope it may be more quiet.

Stayed here a few years ago and were made just as welcome. Room clean, parking easy. Friendly staff. Location just across road from beach. Good breakfast. Secure keeping of car keys which is required as parking area is small.

At first we felt a little blown off our course on this busy part of Italian coast (major destination of many Italian families) after our couple days of travelling the up-country of Tuscany by car, but very soon discovered that this pleasant, clean and reasonably priced family-run hotel constitutes a great base to discover major sights of Ligurian coast - Porto Venere and Cinque Terre. It took us only about an hour by car to reach Porto Venere, the gateway to 5Terre and itself a charming little town where we went twice - to board a boat tour for 5Terre and the other time to take advantage of their lovely beach. We spent 3 nights at the hotel Italia and it was a very pleasant time. Indeed, the owners (family) were very nice and we got a lovely big room with great view of the sea. All this for 100 EUR for a room with good breakfast and parking on their own premises per night. We also liked the busy town of Massa, very close to the Marina di Massa where the hotel is located, which offers many shoppping opportunities and good places to dine.

Room Tip: The rooms on the sea side have great view but there is much noise at night from the busy street belo...

A great hotel with a great beach front location. You step out of the front door right in to the centre of Marina di Massa. The building has been beautifully restored and the rooms and common areas are lovely. The rooms are spotless and well cleaned every day. The owner and staff are always friendly and willing to help with any queries. A well stocked breakfast is served on the terrace with a view over the sea and is a fabulous way to start the day. The private parking is also a huge bonus as it can be difficult to park in Marina di Massa at busy times. For two years now we have had a great experience and we will not hesitate to return next year.
