“s.andrea is BARSALINI”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

when i'm free from work I always come back to s.andrea and especially to hotel barsalini..
the hotel over the years always gets better and with new services(massage and relax area) maintaining great prices and and very important thing to say is that everytime I come it's always clean, tidy and organized..
great place to stay and relax, near the beach and boat rent services
the restaurant offers a different menu everyday and comes with a very complete wine list
an extra thing to say is about the bar .the aperitives made by daniel the barman are for me the best in italy always looking for new ingredients and flavours, once you will try the first one you surely will go back every evening for something new to taste.
this place for me is my second home.. see you soon guys

We stayed in July for 3 nights and found this to be a wonderful Hotel. It was just how I imagined a beautiful place to be so close to the sea. Staff were magnificent and I am looking forward to coming back next year for the summer. I really find this Hotel and amzing experience. Very warm and firendly. Breakfast excellent, rooms so cool and comfortable. The bar area is a great palce to enjoy a drink or two. You feel most welcome at Hotel Barsalini. Thank you to all staff and management.

Room Tip: Room 13 had peace and quiet, cool temperatures and good facilites for basic couples needs.

For the price per person we paid for half board, this place is really great value for money as it includes a really big and varied breakfast and a decent dinner with a buffet of side dishes. The variety of dishes to choose from each night was different so that makes it stand out from other three-star hotels although the quality of the dishes could be improved as they were either too salty or obviously tasted as if they were made from frozen and not fresh ingredients.

One major problem we had with the food was that since we had our one-year old with us whom we were still not feeding food with added salt, we made multiple requests to the kitchen to prepare a vege puree for us with no added salt. 6 out of the 7 nights we were there, salt somehow landed into the dish and we had to either ask them to replace it or I had to go to my room and take out my salt-free food jars for the baby I had brought along just in case. During the last couple of nights for dinner, being rather fed up with turning up for dinner expecting his meal to be prepared as we wanted but always ending up having to go get the jars because of the salt that was obviously added despite our request for no salt, we decided to make things easier for them by just asking them to prepare plain cooked pasta. Even that simple message was not understood by the kitchen as they served us cooked pasta in vege puree again, with salt of course. So if you are going there with a baby or toddler whom you are still not feeding food with added salt, be forewarned. Bring your own food jars.

The location of the hotel is basically just a few steps away from the beach of Saint Andrea so that makes it very convenient and those with little children and babies will surely enjoy the natural pool on the right hand side of the beach which is basically a little part of the sea enclosed by rocks and great for waddling and splashing in for the little ones.

As Saint Andrea is a really small place/village, don't expect any night life or opportunities for window-shopping or much entertainment at night except for when they have a live band playing or other sorts of entertainment by the beach in summer. It is truely a place for peace and quiet and relax.

The cute barman on top of making great cocktails is also really friendly and very polite. The bar is a great place to hang out anytime of the day.

Room Tip: if you want a room close to the beach and don't mind a room under the restaurant/breakfast room...

Dear Sirs,
Thank you for your review and we are sorry for the inconvenience that has been created with meals of your child. In hotel we have many children and we always try the best to meet their needs, but apparently this time we did not succeed as we should have!
As for our products, we usually use fresh produce and where we used the frozen ones, is our care to do this to the customer and highlight it in the menu of the day as required by the regulations in the course.

We hope to have you as our guest again and we wish you a good summer.

Sincerely,
The direction
Davide Barsalini

We have just returned from a 12 night family holiday on the island of Elba. Our first six nights we spent at Hotel Barsalini. Our little group consists of my husband and I, 4yr old boy and 2yr old girl. It was wonderful and couldn't have been more perfect. Sant Andrea is a great spot on the island (great beach restaurants, little sandy beach, good snorkelling, boat hire and coast walks) Room 34 - beautiful views from our balcony and comfortable children's room. Went to sleep hearing the waves below. We hadn't realised just how close to the sea it was - lovely. The food was great - lots of choice at breakfast and delicious supper every night with great service from lovely waiters and waitresses. There was a fish tank by the restaurant which was a hit with the little ones. So easy to wander down to the beach with armfuls of buckets and spades and inflatables! The location couldn't have been more perfect and the hotel couldn't have been more charming. There was also a wonderful 7pm bar time with yummy snacks, cocktails and strawberry punch - another hit with the little ones and bar in lovely location looking out to sea and with beautiful flowers along the walk way. The pool was a relaxing and attractive little spot where I would spend very relaxing afternoons while the rest of the family had a snooze and I treated myself to a massage in the wellness garden - a lovely peaceful spot. No negatives about this hotel at all for a family holiday and the only problem was, the next hotel we went to in Fetovaia (highly rated on trip advisor) was a bit of a disappointment!

Room Tip: We loved room 34 with a balcony looking out to sea but if you are worried about little ones and balc...

This is actually a belated review, as it´s been some time since we have stayed in this hotel (we stayed there twice - July and September), but I think not writing it would not be fair to Davide and Ewa :-). We had a wonderful time and I cannot think of anything I could complain about. For me, this is how I imagine a perfect summer holiday; small, cosy and picturesque hotel just a few steps from a nice sandy beach, kids and family friendly (we´ve got two boys so I can tell), great food (and great drinks before dinner!) and very nice staff. In other words, place where we did not feel like tourists but as welcome guests. Coupled with the fact that Elba is a wonderful place with a lot to see and discover, this is just a perfect holiday. We will definitely return this year!

The best thing about the hotel is its location..right on top of A wonderful beach and with a magnificent garden with seaview to relax.

The bad part is breakfast. Get there fast or have very little to eat..the staff do not refill breakfast items at all and are just busy clearing tables and getting coffee. There are no breakfast tabs so you really do not know what you are eating..plain croassaint or with cream, orange juice or peach..you never know. The strange thing is that there seemed to be a breakfast manager of some some sort which thought everything was going smoothly and didn't really do much. The highlight of breakfast is the Italian capuccino and not much more.

Other then that, the rooms are clean and spacious and the staff is ok.

Dear Mr. Freedmann Hugo,
we thank you for your review and we accept with pleasure your advice about some improvement we could make to our breakfast. However, we are sorry to have found our breakfast not to your liking.
Usually our breakfast buffet is always plentiful and full of different things. We have 4 types of croissants, bread, jams, meats, cheeses ,fruit juices, etc. etc.. certainly it can happen that coming a little 'later, you do not see many more things. The breakfast begin at 08:00 and finish at 09:45.Our staff is always very helpful and make every effort to replace the food that fails.
We will arrange to put labels to alert our guests the different types of croissant and other.

Thanking you again for your advice, we send you our best regards.

Sincerely,
Mr. Davide Barsalini

Hotel Barsalini represents excellent value for money: it has charm, pleasant staff, excellent food, lovely facilities and is surprisingly affordable for such an idyllic location - on the edge of a small beach, at the foot of a lush, forested mountain. The scenery is beautiful: crystalline water, dramatic rock formations and countless remote coves and inlets to be explored by boat – my favourite memory of the island. There is little to do here save relax, which is exactly what we wished for, but the serenity was impinged on just a tad by the one drawback of this hotel -- it was crawling with children. They were well enough behaved but monopolised the pool, so we decamped to the beach (hardly a hardship) and booked the sauna/jacuzzi facilities in the wellness garden for our own use. During our stay I also enjoyed a great massage which was administered in the wellness garden. All in all this was a really superb hotel which exceeded my expectations in almost every way. We particularly enjoyed the pre-dinner antipasti buffet which we enjoyed with the daily recommended cocktail before dinner (drinks were not included, but were well priced).
