“WEDDING TRIP OF A LIFETIME”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Tried to find a reasonable hotel for our trip to our sons wedding at Malcesine Caste. Although not a million miles away because of the hilly nature the hotel was not the nearest, however as the wedding was one day the rest of our stay was fantastic because of the location of this hotel. Well within the towns pedestrian precincts and close to car park as we drove to Italy from U.K. (can highly recommend the drive especially through Austria) Our host gino was exceptional, very dry but most attentive and hospitable, nothing was too much trouble. Albeit it seemed a more of a one man band as he appeared to do everything bar cleaning we could not fault this hotel especially as friends had booked into a nearby 4 star which I considered inferior. Would highly recommend for value, location and convenience. Basil sorry Gino the perfect host.

Don't go to this hotel expecting luxurious accommodation but you do get value for money and exceptional location. We had read previous comments re the hotel manager Gino. He is curt and his humour dry but he runs a clean and well run hotel. The breakfasts were good, the rooms and showers clean. The noise level could be a bit loud but you are literally in the centre of all the wonderful things Malcesine has to offer. A lake to wonder at, safe streets to find good food and drinks and lovely small shops to buy Italian goods in.

Stayed here in sept 12. This hotel has a great location, in the middle of old malcesine and right next to a lake boat taxi so you can easily visit other towns around the lake. The staff were friendly, especially the propiater who was more than happy to let me use his computer and printer to print stuff I should have printed in the UK.
The breakfast is basic but on the plus side the room we had was big with a large bathroom. Only downside was the noisy layout of the rooms, it was easy to think there was an elephant staying above.
All in all it was an enjoyable stay.

We stayed here for a night in June 2012 on our way from Milan to Venice. Malcesine is a very nice mediveal town along Lake Garda and this hotel is located right in the middle of the town centre. The hotel is basic and reasonably clean given the age of the hotel. It's priced just about right at EUR 65 for a night that we paid. The breakfast was a bit limited as you would expect from any 2 star hotel but there was freshly baked bread available that we enjoyed. The service was very good and the hotel staff did everything to make sure our stay was comfortable. The reception, which was merely a desk and a chair, used to get closed after 11:00pm and the main entrance door to the hotel used to be shut. We were given keys to the main door to enter the hotel after 11.

Picked this hotel because of the location and old world building, so glad we did. We attended for a wedding and stayed for seven nights. The bride and groom were in the Hotel Capri, which was very nice and had a swimming pool etc. but was located approx. 10 mins from the centre. This hotel has to be in one of the best locations in Malcesine. We had a double room on the 3rd floor. opened the window and to the left we would see the like and ahead we could see the castle and we overlooked one of the authentic little streets. Yes, you can get the luxury if that is what you want. Our room was clean and the breakfast was enough, boiled eggs, toast, cereal, crusty cobs, jams, ham, cheese, coffee, tea, juices and considering the location was very reasonable. My husband and I, who love the luxury, would not have swapped to stay in the luxury and give up this lovely location. You can shut the window and cut off from the street noise if on the front, even though was really hot, as there is a fan supplied in the room. I do not understand the previous comments that Gino would put you off staying again. Yes he is quite direct and straight talking, but as long as you can see that you won't have a problem. He is absolutely fine. Also the transfers from the airport are a better rate if you book through the hotel. We just made the mistake of not booking a return, so if you book a transfer and want a return do it a week in advance and don't forget your return. Fab location, would definitely recommended to friends and family.

Room Tip: 3rd floor quite large double room overlooking street, view of castle and lake

We stayed here for a week and found the hotel to be very reasonably priced for a central location. The room we had was basic but clean and the bedding and towels were changed daily. There was adequate choice for breakfast and the hotel gave us all that was needed. Gino our host had a lovely dry sense of humour which not everyone understood but we liked him very much. He was also very helpful with advice when asked. Would certainly stay there again. Thankyou for an excellent weeks holiday.

We stayed here for 3 days for my sisters wedding. We were going to camp but decided to get a cheap hotel instead. This hotel was great value for the money we paid - clean but basic and right in the centre of town. We had a fan in the room, clean towels each day, and breakfast was fine. The owner/front of house guy is an interesting character, as other people have made reference to, but this didn't detract from our experience! If you're after something cheap and simple, but clean and comfortable, this is ideal.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter as they are off the main street
