“Beautiful Hotel at amazing value!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2014 via mobile

Myself, my partner and some family members stayed here from 25th June 2014 for a week as was attending a wedding.
We picked the hotel due to the incredibly good price, and was presently surprised, and actually preferred this to other guest hotels.
The location is very good, it's about a ten minute stroll into Malcesine centre, the only downside is there isn't a pathway at times, more like marking on the road. However this wasn't an issue and we walked up and down regularly day and night.
The hotel is very clean, has a lovely pool area and very friendly staff.
The food is continental, which is what we expected and there is a nice selection of cereal, meats and fruits. Food in restaurants is a good price and amazing.
Our room was a little on the small side but was big enough for us, had a nice shower room and was very clean and modern.
We really enjoyed our stay, loved the pool area which was perfect and had amazing views Of the hillside.
Would defiantly recommend this hotel and will hopefully return sometime in the future.

When I booked this it was primarily on the basis of price as I knew I wouldn't spend much time in the hotel. Family were staying in another hotel so I was able to make a comparison. The location was excellent with the exception of having to cross the road (but then many hotels were in the same situation) and there was the tourist bus if required. The views were outstanding. The grounds and communal areas well kept and very clean. The rooms whilst basic and not air conditioned were very comfortable and cleaned daily. I had a mountain view room which seems less preferable but gets sunshine through the morning and day, and also quieter than those on the front. Breakfast was better than expected, and amongst the best I've ever had in Italy if not the best. Would definitely recommend above most of the three stars and some four star hotels I've been in

Room Tip: The mountain rooms at the rear may not seem as good, but benefit from sunshine at the right times an...

The hotel is a little out of the centre on a main road but if you walk to the crossing there is a path that takes you down to the lake which is then a pleasant walk into the centre. The breakfast was nice with the normal European options. The hotel was clean and the rooms were nice. The pool was lovely and the gardens well kept. The only thing I missed was coffee making facilities in the room and a fridge. We had these at the 2 previous hotels we had stayed at before we arrived at Malcesine so were disappointed we had nowhere to keep our bottled water cool and couldn't have a drink first thing in a morning. I wonder if this is why the hotel only has 2 stars because apart from this the hotel was well worth 3 stars. Would recommend

Room Tip: We had a side room with views both mountains and lake and sun on the balcony. Our family had rooms a...

Our first visit to Malcesine on the banks of Lake Garda was May 2013, and we struck Gold with the accommodation. Hotel Casa Serena was chosen because it had good reviews from trip advisor and it fitted in with our requirements and budget.
This year, 2014, we went in early June and back to the same hotel, Hotel Casa Serena. We were met at the entrance by one of the owner family with a lovely warm (good to see you again) welcome. This year we asked for the top floor with balcony over looking the lake. The family are very friendly and helpful as are the staff. Our chambermaid greeted us in English and a big smile.. We asked for 2 extra pillows and they were bought up in less time than it took to unpack. The room had a spacious bed, large wardrobe, small table, chair and mirror, a safe that you can set yourself, on suite with Shower, WC, bidet, hair dryer and illuminated mirror, oh, and plenty of towels.
French doors opened onto the balcony with 2 chairs and a coffee table and fantastic views. The breakfast is continental and loads of it and the breakfast room is immaculate. We were lucky and eat in the open, on the veranda a few times. We were so relaxed we stayed for over an hour soaking up the weather and atmosphere. The reception area also doubles as a bar and a place to sit and have an evening snack. Babbo (Father) makes a mean spaghetti bolognaise. The swimming pool is not for us but it looked very inviting with the loungers and tables laid out clean every morning. The whole hotel is just pristine in cleanliness and service. We wanted to catch a bus to Garda, so the co owner produced a bus time table and underlined the times to go and come back, she also gave us advice on so many things in the area, it was like having our own travel guide. Local knowledge is worth it's weight in gold.
So that's about the hotel. We have no hesitation in recommending it.
The hotel location is also great. The bus stops are 150 yards away as is the path leading down to the lakeside. The walk along the lakeside is gorgeous and there are a few places to have a coffee or 'Hugo' on the way to the town or back. If you have a lazy stroll, you will be in the town in 15 to 20 min. Malcesine is the jewel of Lake Garda to us, but we have not seen all of it. We will be back at Casa Serena next year because we love the hotel, love the owners and love the area.

Room Tip: Rooms with a balcony are the best.

We chose this hotel as it had a pool and was cheap. The hotel is located a short walk 10 mins from the centre of malcesine, all flat if you walk on the lake front which was never a problem for us. I cannot fault one area of the hotel for cleanliness, everything was spot on, the whole downstairs, internally dining area, bar, externally pool etc is all very modern and the rooms although perhaps not as modern were to a good standard, if anything bathroom slightly on the small side. Breakfast was continental the usual eggs, ham cheese, croissant, toast cereal, juice, coffee etc. while we stayed it was very quiet, usually only us and possibly 2 other couples round the pool at the most. Although it's close to the main road and we had a lake view once the door and shutters we're down we didn't hear any traffic and slept well. It was nice to have a drink sat out of the front of the hotel on an evening before heading in malcesine. I would definitely stay there again if I visited malcesine without a doubt.

We have stayed here twice this year, and both times we were very well looked after by the family. We have just returned after staying there for a week and feel very relaxed and refreshed. We will be returning again soon. The hotel is basic but it does have everything you need, if you are not looking for a high end boutique holiday and the service and manners from the family are second to none.

Room Tip: If you want a lake view, ask for a third floor room the views are stunning, however please bear in m...

We chose Hotel Casa Serena from the rating it had on Trip Adviser reviews, plus cost and facilities. We did not want a gym or sauna or room service or late bar or big restaurant. I did not like the photo on their web site of the white plastic tables and bright green plastic chairs. Boy was I wrong. The tables were top rated solid acrylic on stainless basses. The chairs were leather and the green was in keeping with this very clean and crisp reception bar area.
The breakfast room is well designed and spotlessly clean like the rest of the hotel. The choice is continental from the well stocked help your self counter. You had 3 cereal, fresh yoghurt, rolls, croissant, marble cake, crisp bread, 3 types of cold meat, ermantal slices, hard boiled eggs, jams and pastes. Orange juice coffee and tea to drink. It was to look forward too.
We had a room with a balcony looking through lovely trees towards the lake. First thing in the morning was a great site of the sun on the tops of the mountains that possibly, are only half a mile across the lake. We opened both doors and leant on the balcony rail, watching the local traffic go past and hearing the sounds of this lake side country area.
The room has a large bed with room to move around it. ( I am 16 stone and it was easy) The bed has two individual big duvets. (What bliss to have it to myself ALL night). We slept like logs every night on this very comfortable bed. there are power points either side of the bed. In the wardrobe is a safe that you set with your own code, very handy. The room has two straight back chairs and a dressing table. The bathroom has a good shower, WC, Bidet and sink. The mirror is illuminated and the fitted hair dryer is powerful.
We were so lucky to have chosen an hotel we are going back to next year and that we were so lucky to make a good choice on our first holiday for 20 years, partially due to trip Adviser reviewers. Thanks to all of you.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor with lake view.
