“Stunning view even from the 1st station”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

Due to a huge cloud on the top of the Mountain we decided to give the 1st station a chance (tanks to the cashier). The view is amazing and the restaurant next to it had a great coffee and amazing tiramisu cake. Dont miss it although it should certainly be nicer in a clear day...

“Amazing, but go when it's clear weather”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

The views from up here are incredible! Lovely, rolling, green hills on one side, and a fabulous view of the lake on the other. I went on several hikes (having taken the funicular up), and my favorite one was a short loop along the ridge line of one of the peaks. The lake views were truly stunning.

Note: If it's cloudy, you might as well hike below. It clouded over within 10 minutes of arriving to the top, so our first hike was in dense fog and we had no views. However, over the course of about an hour and a half the fog cleared and again we had spectacular views.

“Above Garda”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Nice easy drive from Sirmione took us both to Malcesine . Getting there early helps with the parking directly under the cable car station. We bought a ticket which takes you to the top (you can buy a combination cable car and castle). Halfway up you transfer to another car which rotates as it travels to the summit. We went in October so we were wrapped up like sheep as it was about 1deg.
Day finished with tour around the old town just across the road, finishing off with a great coffee and panini

“Beautiful Mountain, Very Accessible”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

The mountain itself is very beautiful, not just the upper side, but also all the way there. We were traveling by car, and took the "panoramic road" from Malcesine (there was a sign for it on the closest to lake road, "Viale Panoramica" I think). That "panoramic road" totally worth it! You are climbing the mountain through little villages and cute houses and farms, everything is green and the nature is beautiful. There is also an observation point, where you can stop and park your car, sit on the benches, have a picnic and enjoy the breathtaking views. After the observation we went to the closest funicular station (it is not "Malcesine Funive" but one above, I think), and took the funicular to the top of the mountain. The views there are spectacular!
It is highly recommended to go there where there is no fog, otherwise you won't be able to see anything.

“What a view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

So worth a look if you are in the area: amazing view of the lake. you can also go on a trek. We walking down back to Malcesine from the 1st stop and took only one hour.
