We were on honeymoon in Garda and decided to take the local bus from Garda to Malcesine. We bought the tickets in the bus station in Garda from the machine which is quite easy to use. You just buy two tickets per person which covers you for the return journey. It cost 3.40 euros each way per person.
We went on the last Saturday in September. It was market day in Malcesine but it tends to pack up by lunch time. Unfortunately the weather decided to be quite wet and cloudy that day. We went around the market and then around the shops in Malcesine so that hopefully the weather would improve a little before we went up Monte Baldo in the cable car. It did improve slightly although still raining and cloudy and cold.
It cost 38 euros for 2 of us on the cable car which we thought was quite reasonable. You go in the first cable car and then change about half way up into the revolving cable car. This turns 360 degrees very slowly as you ascend/decend. The view from the top of Lake Garda even though it was cloudly was still very special and I am sure on a clear sunny day it is absolutely stunning. There are a couple of cafes at the top and also a restaurant. We had a lovely bruschetta which was very reasonable.
