This is the average Malcesine restaurant I'm afraid. They're all the same! The bread is stale in every single one of them and the menu is almost identical if for a few euro difference in the pricing!
The service was speedy (almost too speedy, but that's the case in every Malcesine restaurant you eat in) and the meals were not served together so my pasta went cold whilst waiting for the pizza to arrive for my partner.
Cleaning up also is too speedy, they whisk away the plates before you have had a chance to finish your last mouthful. I guess this is a tactic to get you in/out quickly in order to get the next bunch of paying customers in/out too.
Food was average - wasn't horrible but wasn't anything to write home about either - again, like ALL the restaurants in Malcesine!!!
We did receive a free limoncello which we didn't ask for and also a free bottle of wine to take away with us which was actually fairly nice (again, we didn't ask for this, looks like all the customers get it) which is the reason for the 3 stars and not 2.
When we asked for the bill, we were told we couldn't have it until we ordered another drink. As we didn't want another drink, this resulted in a very awkward, half Italian/half English almost-argument with the waiter who was basically saying we couldn't leave without ordering more. Refusing to order more, we finally got the bill and left before another couple were quickly ushered into our now empty seats.
So, to conclude; a very average Malcesine restaurant. Not bad, not good, not anything really - to be honest, I'm not sure why I wrote this review :)
