We stayed here in July for our honeymoon. The reception, bar and restaurant were lovely but the rooms were very disappointing as they were so dated. The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The entertainment was good, but very loud as we were in a room overlooking the bar however the music stopped around eleven which was a reasonable hour. This hotel is quite big and can get busy at meal times. This hotel is similar to those we have stayed when in Spain. Next time I would stay in one of the smaller hotels in malcesine which seem to have a more Italian feel about them.

I holidayed here with my two children aged 10 and 11 in July this year. As a single parent it is important that I feel the hotel and resort of my choice is safe in every way.
I was not dissapointed. The hotel was well run, efficient, food was great, staff friendly and the amazing Romero ran his diningroom like an army officer.
Facilities are very good-the pool is a great size, Lovely gardens, and play pools for younger children. Lots of other games available. We played volleyball in the evenings with full stomachs! The hotel seems big enough to absorb everybody without feeling crowded.
Our room was very clean if a little dated. Its worth it to try for a more modern room at the back of the main hotel.
Malcesine is a lovely town-great to browse around. Scalegari Castle is beautiful with great views.Dont forget a plunge in the lake-you will feel and see carp in the water.
We loved the boat trips to Limone and Riva-dont miss the markets for some great Italian fashion.
The shop selling Murano glass jewellry in Riva square is to die for. I bought up the shop-great for presents.
In all, despite the heat, we had a lovely time .i would not hesitate to take children here if you are a single parent. Both the hotel and the town seems to attract a nice clientele. No lager louts present. Some wedding groups can get a bit boisterous at night but well behaved in general.
Would I go back? Yes. when its cooler.
I did miss coffee and tea making facilities in the room.

Room Tip: If you can-go for one of the modern rooms at the back of the hotel.

Arrival 8th August til 15th August 2012
Although we booked our holiday in January 2012 ...on arrival we were informed that we would need to be reallocated another room after 4 days. With an infant in our party this was poor resource allocation by the Hotel and stressful from our point of view.
On the Friday (we were due at a wedding) we had no water/plumbing and were unable to prepare accordingly. Our Crystal rep Ruth was excellent and obviously approached management but this made no difference on any of the issues.
This hotel is NOT a taste of Italy you could be anywhere in europe and in this case we found it a little disappointing....
Malcesine beautiful and the wedding day exceptional in respect of service and Italy all organised by lake garda weddings....
Hotel In summary....
Food - Acceptable...
Drink - In restaurant free and of a good standard
Rooms - Clean....
Grounds - extensive....
Childrens play areas- require attention and updating ......
Restaurant service....good
location - not the best
- a distance from town but walkable down hill
- 10 euro taxi return,
Entertainment - every night ...good
Major problem .....no pool service and the bar is some distance from the 'back' pools.
Also glass was carried to the pool areas and on several occasions glasses were broken and
this caused health and safety issues SPECIFICALLY WITH CHILDREN
We always used plastic containers decanted at the bar.
Holiday value - average

Room Tip: Pick another hotel closer to the town

We went as a family of five back in 2009 and had such a wonderful time. We payed the extra to stay in a garden room and I think it was worth it. The rooms were big and spacious with lovely views.
Our daughter was nine months old on this holiday and the pools were great for her and it was so safe with everything geared up for babies.

Food was excellent and the staff first class.

The hotel is a walk from the town but it's nothing that's too much of a problem.

Had a great time and would go back again. In fact my parents are next year.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a garden room.

Stayed at Majestic Palace in August 2012. Was part of a wedding party and had an amazing time.
The hotel is situated 20 mins walk from the town centre of Malcesine. The walk from the town is along a path which climbs slowly this was not difficult and the views are stunning!!!
The hotel staff were very friendly and always willing to help.
We have young daughter and the choice of 3 pools, tennis, playground and indoor playing facilities meant she had plenty of things to do.
The room was very comfortable if not slightly dated, the rooms were kept immaculately clean.
Malcesine is a beautiful town and there are some lovely little bars and restaurants to go to and relax. Everyone we met in the town and the other guess were very friendly i could not recommend the hotel or the town highly enough. Lake Garda is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in my life. The wedding was the most beautiful, amazing and wonderful day i have ever experienced. We will definitely be going back, it was a fantastic holiday.

We stayed at the Majestic Palace for 11 nights at the end July - Aug. The hotel is situated 20 mins walk from the town centre of Malcesine. The walk from the town is along a path which climbs slowly which caused us no problems although it was hot! An alternative route down to the lake and town is via steps and a steep path which gets you down in about 6 mins. Great fun to climb back up that way too but may take a little longer unless you are very fit! We used the hotel shuttle bus a couple of times which runs hourly into the town and back only costling 1 euro per adult.
The hotel itself is beautifuly maintained, clean, spacious and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. We had a duluxe room towards the back of the hotel which was lovely and quite. The room consisted of two single beds and a sofa bed which pulled out into 2 seperate beds. This was fine for our 8 and 11 year old girls who both slept well on them. The bedroom, balcony and bathroom were all large and we never felt cramped.
The breakfast and dinners were plentiful, varied and hot. Plenty of drink options and it was good to use the lunch buffet if we were around at lunchtime. Our children always had plenty on their plates and kept returning for more which was good to see! Hot drinks and a biscuit are served from 4pm - 5pm daily.
The hotel pools were busy, with quite a lot of the sun beds being reserved early in the morning! Crazy golf was good fun as was the magician and brazillian nights.
We took the lake tour which was a good day out and the cable car, castle and boat trip to Limone are all fab to visit.
Take some insect bite cream, we got bitten quite a few times!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a duluxe room.

Stayed at Majestic Palace in June 2012. Was part of a wedding party and had an amazing time. The hotel staff were very friendly and always willing to help, they reserved a table for us for every meal so that we were all sitting together. Think it worked out that out of the 7 days we were there 4 of them we had dinner included. Every day though you have breakfast and evening meal included and there is plenty to choose from. Local drinks are free during the meals however you are in no rush to eat and leave. Lots of things to do in the hotel and some really good excursions were available. We did spend a lot of time down in Malcesine, its about a 20 minute walk from the hotel downhill. Coming back though buses run on the hour every hour until 11. Probably the most beautiful place I've ever been, the food is amazing and the people are very friendly. Renting a speed boat and going out onto the lake is a must if you do go! Rooms were reasonable, we had a little trouble with our air con but nothing to complain about. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and Lake Garda in general. Will definitely be going back one day!
