“We love this Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

We just love this hotel!! We have just booked to visit again in summer 2014, having visited every year for the last 10 years. The hotel is in an ideal location looking across the road and the wide promenade to its own beach and over the Bay of Salerno, with views up to the beautiful Ravello and along the coast to Salerno and beyond.
Maiori is a pleasant town, smaller, quieter and less touristy than Amalfi and is an ideal location to explore the Amalfi Coast and other places of interest (Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius, Paestum, Capri, etc) – or just to stay local to chill and relax.
The hotel is a pleasant looking building. You arrive at Reception in a large, airy, pleasantly furnished entrance hall. (Free Wifi is available in this area too.) Air-con keeps the hotel nice and cool. Rooms are on four floors which are all served by lifts and stairs. We feel it is worth paying the extra for one of the sea view rooms, which are large and spacious, with king size bed, spare bed, chairs and table, large wardrobe, hairdryer, TV, balcony, also with chairs and table, and there is also a good size bathroom (some with walk in shower and some with bath and shower over). Bedding and towels are changed every day and rooms are kept spotlessly clean – as is the whole hotel. The hotel has a wonderful front patio overlooking the promenade and the bay. It is so pleasant to sit and relax here under the canopy if you prefer the shade, or in the sun, at any time of the day or evening. In the summer months, the hotel provides evening entertainment on the patio, usually once or twice a week.
Our half board arrangement enables us to take the buffet breakfast (a good spread, including a choice of fruit juices, water, cereals, fruit, bread, croissants, meats, cheese and spreads, as well as cooked breakfast, on request (tea and coffee is served to your table) and we can opt for lunch or evening meal, both of which have a new daily menu (which is displayed early each morning) offering a good variety of choices of starter and main courses, all with waiter service. Fruit, ice cream or sweet of the day are offered as dessert.
Lunch, drinks and snacks may be ordered from the patio or pool throughout the day and can be charged to your room account. A mini-market is very close to the hotel and other shops, supermarkets, bars, cafes and restaurants are a short walk away. Buses to Salerno, Naples and local resorts stop close to the hotel (don’t forget to purchase your bus ticket in advance, with the exception of the Red Bus).
The hotel also boasts a very large swimming pool which also looks across to the seafront (and a small children’s pool) which is immaculately clean, with a good number of sun beds and umbrellas. Beach/pool towels are available free of charge for guests to use, on request.
Saving the best till last, the hotel’s biggest asset is its staff. Without exception, the staff are so friendly, cheerful and helpful. Francesca and her team front of house, Giovanni and his colleagues in the bar, Rafael and his team of waiting and catering staff, not forgetting Peppe and his pool and all the cleaning and maintenance staff – all only too happy just to greet you or to help. The overall feel is of a cosy, friendly, family-run hotel, with the personal touch.
There are many guests who return each year, who now are friends, and we cannot think of another hotel in Maiori where we would rather stay (we can’t all be wrong!) which is why we are returning again in July. Can’t wait!!!

Room Tip: We feel it is worth the extra to have a sea view room.

I have stayed at this hotel for my summer holiday for the past 18 years! What makes it so special, the location, facilities, staff, the whole package. Everyone is so friendly, the staff mostly remain the same, they all seem like one big family. You will be assured of a very warm welcome at reception, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Good air conditioning when needed. Lovely views over the town from one side of the hotel. Sit on the terrace and enjoy the view of Ravello. Dinner is silver service with an excellent selection of fresh local food, the fish being especially good, all served by highly trained and good humoured waiters/waitresses and overseen by the Maitre d'. There is a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in the bar for an aperitif or after dinner enjoy a drink on the terrace and watch the local people promenade on the Lungo Mare. The hotel boasts the best pool in the vicinity for swimming, always clean and tidy. The location is excellent for exploring the Amalfi coast, but find out what is happening locally, During the summer, there are concerts and dancing in the town or nearby. There is information in the hotel.

This hotel was extremely clean considering it's age. The rooms were cute. They style was a little outdated but fit the scenery perfect! We loved the rooms.... they were very spacious with awesome balconies. Perfect location! Gorgeous views and friendly hotel staff!!

The Hotel has a great location overlooking the prom. We had a nice room in the front of the hotel with a fabulous view. The staff were very good, professional, helpful & friendly. We were staying half board. Not all good though. I would only consider the the hotel a 3 star & it is a little dated. The bed was hard & the English channels on the TV were poor with not even a decent news channel. The choices available at breakfast were very limited & the dinner menu was not up to the standard of a 4 * hotel.

Room Tip: A room with a sea view is a must & worth the extra

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

We stayed in this hotel in September. We booked this holiday with Thomson. The hotel is on the sea front, walking distance around all of Maori. The town area is pretty busy even though its not a large town. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The beds were good and bedding of a good standard. The rooms were cleaned daily and the bedding changed and had fresh towels. The tv was basic and had only one English channel which was BBC World News. The balcony had chairs and table on it. We had nice views of the mountains and the castle. The pool was fairly quiet most of the time this was probably because of the water being a bit cold but this didnt put us off. The pool is very deep and has a diving board. The hotel provided us with beach and pool towels which was really good. The reception staff were very helpful and lent us a electric plug adapter for the 2 weeks we were there. Breakfast was continental buffet. but had a good variety. Had cereal, toast, fresh fruit, tinned fruit, cheese, ham, cakes and occasionally eggs. We were half board. The evening meal was waiter service from a set menu. There was 3 options. Meat, fish or cheese. We told the head waiter that we are vegetarian. He asked if we ate fish, we said we didnt. He looked at us as if we were from another planet. So we had the cheese dishes every night, but we ate out some nights. The food was very tasty and of a high standard. The waiters were friendly and pleasant. To be fair we did not ask if we could have an alternative to cheese as they didnt seem to understand vegetarianism otherwise this would be evident on the menu. Drinks in the hotel were expensive, a can of lemon cost 3.50. We thought it would be quite an expensive holiday but was pleasantly surprised. There is a cheap supermarket called Deco where we bought our water, it was only 2 Euros for 6 x 2 Litre bottles. There are some expensive restaurant but it depends on your budget. We found a nice restaurant called La Vela and had a meal for 25 Euro. There is WiFi in the reception area and was easy to access. The hotel has its own beach area and allocated sunbeds. So, you are sunbathing with people from your own hotel. Our Rep was called Josete. She was fantastic and gave us lots of ideas of what to do. We booked a few day trips. We went to Capri which is not to be missed, especially the chair lift up the mountain. Paestum was also a trip not to be missed, its a lot quieter than Pompei. Local buses can be a bit unreliable and very busy. Bus tickets need to be bought in advance from bars or Tobacconists. Theres a bar near to the hotel called bar Orlente where you can buy bus tickets. Bus to Amalfi cost 2.50 one way. There is also the red tourist open top bus which cost 3 Euro or 10 Euro for a day pass, but again we found it to be a bit unreliable also. Maori has a castle which is worth a visit. Its up many steps and not suitable if you struggle walking. The castle is owned by an old man who shows you around, He speaks no English, but was a fun experience. Its free to go in but you are expected to make a donation to its restoration. Ravello is a town in the hills that is so beautiful. You can get a local bus there from Amalfi. Amalfi can be a very busy town as this is where you get buses to go further around the coast.

We stayed there recently (mid September) and was very pleased with hotel. Very welcoming staff and food was available to us when we arrived at around 11.00 pm. This is a great hotel as a base for exploring the Almalfi Coast, quieter than Amalfi but with specatular views. Food was very good and waiter and bar service excellent. Hotel facilities we thought were excellent, pool is larger than average. All in all would certainly recommend.

We stayed here for 10 days in the summer. It's very close to the beach and guests have free access to the private beach. The pool is apparently the largest in the area and it's also excellent.

They were very accommodating - we had dinner kept for us as our arrival was late, they made a special birthday breakfast of pancakes for my little sister and also gave us complimentary pink champagne on her birthday. I also received post after leaving the hotel and the forwarded it to me in the UK with no problems at all.
I had some painful mosquito bites and the hotel were very helpful - they recommended a pharmacy and plugged a deterrent into our room for the rest of the holiday.

The bedrooms were clean and fresh with good air conditioning. The beds were quite hard but we slept fine - you get used to it quickly.

The food was excellent - we were on half board. Breakfast is a buffet with a wide choice of pastries, breads, fruit, cereal, scrambled eggs, cold meats and cheeses. Dinner was always a choice between three options for each course. Always a vegetarian option, fish option and meat. The fish was fresh and beautifully cooked.

I could write more about this brilliant hotel but I'll leave at this; welcoming, friendly, excellent service, we really didn't want to leave!
