“Will you sleep?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Just back from a much needed Autumn break, booking a room with sea view at this hotel. Good news is that the staff could not have been more helpful, thank you so much Filomena and the breakfast is fantastic- described as American, but plenty to eat; fruit, crossaints, good coffee, tea pots for tea AND a full English. Tried the first floor restaurant once and food was good, so must be great value for people on half board.

But. The rooms with a sea view are in full sun all day and there is no air conditioning as such, just a heater that will circulate the air. Our room was boiling! Tried to sleep with the door open, as no mossys in October, but the cars and motorbikes roaring along the road outside made this impossible. Also at the weekend feral youths screaming, shouting and for some reason clapping outside all night made it impossible to sleep with the door and window open. Maybe they screaming to be let out of their ( uniformly worn ) spray on jeans! In firnest this must be true for all hotels on the front.

Eventually asked to move to a room at the back of the hotel, which was much cooler and I guess cheaper. I would recommend you ask for one of these rooms. We did this straight away, but would this be possible in peak season.

A few little gripes- that hall and stair carpet is in serious need of a steam clean and the lift floor seems to be collapsing AND with no 'do not disturb/ maid please clean the room' signs to hang on the door, those poor maids must see more appendages than a twenty euro tart!

We love the Amalfi Coast but if we go again will probably choose a different hotel.

Room Tip: Once you've had a look at the sea, its always there. I would ask for a room at the back. There a...

Excellent hotel right by the beach with excellent staff especially Filomena the receptionionist and the hard working waitress. Single traveller in double room! Breakfast was brilliant - hot english and continental. Dinner "neuvelle cuisine" choice of 3 starters and 3 main courses and 2 desserts and I enjoyed it all!. Weather 27 degrees. Rooms at the front present wonderful view but can get noisy. If on 4th floor underneath eating area scraping chairs can wake you up ........I took ear plugs so no problem! Mosquitos bite so take repellent!!!!!! Local buses arrive if they feel like it but its all part of the charm you are on holiday so why rush? Use open top red bus to travel to local villages 3 euros each way. Highly recommended holiday in a lovely location in a brilliiant hotel. Many thanks to the Panorama Hotel and its staff.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter but have no view.

Stayed early October for 7 days, nice location, great views, good breakfast. "Gourmet food" in restaurant very hit and miss. Rooms were basic but pleasant and cleaned on a daily basis. only had entertainment on one evening. It rained for four of the seven days we were there and so found out that ther is little to do in maoiri, even the market was rained off. Also difficult to find a decent restaurant in the area. Seemed to be one of the nicer hotels in the area.

Room Tip: i think rooms on the 3rd floor are probably best bet

I stayed at this hotel in mid October for 4 nights with a friend, and have to say that we were both very pleased with our stay. On arrival we were greeted by Filomina who was more than helpful; we arrived at 11am and check-in time wasn't until 2pm. However, after a quick phone call she managed to get us checked in straight away, and upgraded us to a room with a sea view for free! The hotel itself is lovely, and has a very nice setting (albeit situated on the main road as most of the hotels in this area are). Breakfast was a buffet help yourself, and there was plenty of choice, with something to suit all tastes. Never ate dinner in the hotel, but the resturant always seemed quite busy. Maiori itself is a stunning location, and it's just a short bus ride to the other nearby towns Minori and Amalfi. Minori is smaller and quieter than Maiori, with Amalfi being the bustling hub of this seaside resort, a must see. A trip to Capri is also a recommended day out, with one boat in the morning each day which takes around 2 hours to get to Capri from the port in Maiori, though this does include a trip in the boat around the island to see the numerous grottos.

We tried a few restaurants for our evening meal. Places to try are La Vela which has a lovely atmosphere of an evening with good food to boot as well, and Mammato with excellent food too thought the atmosphere not so good here of an evening. Both are practically next door to the hotel. A must try is Almar which is situated at the far eastern end of the town near to the roundabout, seems a little out of the way but is around a 10 minute walk from the hotel - you won't be dissapointed with the food or the view!

All in all, I would recommend the Panorama for a stay in the beautiful town of Maiori.

TINY pool, but fantastic views. Standard breakfast, help yourself. Didn't eat there for dinner. Some reception staff great, others seemed rather 'new'. All rooms have tiled floors so sound is dreadful when things are dropped and scrapped on floor above. We were directly below the breakfast area and were woken up at 6am EVERY morning with the sounds of moving furniture and cutlery and crockery being dropped-ask to move!! Location is fantastic-directly across from beach over the road. DON'T use the beach sun beds opposite for panorama unless you are with thompson as its very expensive and you get a bed and a deck chair, not two beds. Thompson customers can get a voucher from reception and get a substantial discount. There is one further down on the right where you can get two beds for cheaper. It is more expensive at the weekends. Dont rely on the buses, ours to Salerno was 15 mins early which we missed and then we had to wait over an hour as the one inbetween didnt come. Boat trips to Capri are about €37, takes a while but nice day out. You must try Ristorant Masoniello, it was FANTASTIC!! Not expensive and about a 3 min walk, left out the hotel, then left down a main street. Enjoy!!

Although towards the end of the season the weather was great (27*C).
The staff were all friendly & helpful even finding my wife's jumper after leaving it two days previous.
Room was always clean and the hotel fixed the fridge as soon as we told them it was broken, so again good service. Crack the morning coffee machine queue, either go for early breakfast or get a pot and fill it when there's no queue!
All in all a good centre to stay loads of walking options ( if you can cope with lots & lots of steps) check out the higher paths if you are a walker.

The minute we drove up to the hotel we knew it was a winner. It is right across the street from the sea. Ask for an ocean front room and you'll be lulled to sleep listening to the waves breaking on the sand. Easy access to the busses which you'll need to use to travel from one place to another. I wouldn't even consider driving because the roads are too narrow and you'd miss the incredible views. You are also across the street from the boats to the Isle of Capri.
A full buffet breakfast is offered every morning and a full bar is open in the afternoon. There is also a restaurant for dinner at night but plenty of restaurants along the main street. Maiori is not as busy as the other towns but you can easily get to them for shopping and touring.
