First of all I must say that this Hotel is in a superb location and the town of Maiori is a great base for your holiday or trip. Nice efficient welcome from the staff. We were allocated a room on the side of the Hotel with its own good sized balcony. Loved the views even though they were not sea view, but the comings and goings of local life with the magnificent domed church, more than made up for it. Room was a little dated, simple but very clean. Had a small flat screen TV that had access to about five news channels, two of which were English Language, so not really much use for entertainment. Very large double bed (two singles pushed together) and plenty of storage space. Nice mini bar fridge which had adequate space for your own goodies. Now what I was really disappointed with was the adjoining door to the next room. You may as well been in there with them, no sounds went without a miss and full extent of conversations could be listened to, so the Hotel really needs to sort that out. Noticed that other feedback refers to this same problem. Additionally not the most sound proofed corridors either, with every bang and bump echoing around. The aircon was also something which wasn’t the best thought out idea as the Hotel switched it off at 2.00 am and by 3.00 am woke up sweating in a stuffy room and opening the balcony was not an option due to the on-going noise from the street and rubbish collections, etc.
Lovely roof top bar with views second to none, that had a nice shallow splash pool for the children. Hotel did have a second bar in reception which never opened whilst we were there (last two weeks in August). Good Wi-Fi connection in public area of Hotel which was even available on the beach. Reception lounge was tastefully decorated. Beach was better than expected, a little crowded maybe but otherwise clean and very well attended. Did notice that package guests were given the rear rows of the beach, would have been nice to have had a bed near the front but was told that was not an option.
The Hotel breakfast was very substantial and the evening meal was superb, great staff and service.
Very well located for two good nearby supermarkets and the Bank of Napoli as the Hotel does not offer currency exchange. Cash exchanges at the bank had a commission of €6.20 for any transaction.
Wine prices in Hotel started at €12 for a bottle, large beer €4,large water €3 and cocktails €6. Wine and beer was very cheap in the supermarkets. Take away pizza from nearby Euro pizza started at €2.50 and they were fab.
Good transport system and a very nice open top bus for €3 each from Maiori to Amalfi which you could hop on and off at stopping points, last service was 3.30pm, but otherwise you have the full use of the SITA public buses.
The Amalfi coast is stunning and Maiori is equally as interesting with some great walks.
I don’t think that the Hotel is a 4 star and is no better than 3 star properties that I have stayed in. Shame about the few issues with the Hotel and on that basis it would not be my first choice if I return, which I am sure I will as Maiori is a wonderful Holiday location.
