“"Molto Bella Bellavista"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

We have just returned from a new year ski holiday in Livigno . This was our 8th trip and we never tire of the place!. First time to stay in Bellavista and all I can say was - it was fabulous!. We booked direct and went for the half board option at €20pp per day - which was excellent value. Breakfast was either bacon and eggs, rolls coffee/tea and juice or continental which was a selection of meat and cheeses again with rolls, tea/coffee juice. Dinner was excellent with a choice of at least 10 starters, maincourse's, and desserts. Pasta dishes were included as a starter so the 3 very hungry boys we had with us were in their element with two dinners each evening!. Another couple with us had booked an apartment in the chalet across the road however when we arrived they were upgraded to the residence FOC and were allocated an apartment beside us which added to our holiday. The food was excellent and Fabiano (the chef) looked after us very well each day as did the waiting staff all of whom were very pleasant and friendly. The restaurant was very busy at times and service suffered as a result however it is Italy and they are very laid back! it did not bother us. The standard of the apartments was good. They were very clean and comfortable , the two bedded apartment was a llittle on the small side however the one bedded apartment was a very good size. The ski room in the basement was well proportioned, boots were warm and dry each morning. The property is very well located on Via Saroch approx 30M from Lift 18 and free ski bus stop is 20M away. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitlely stay here again.

My partner and I stayed at the Bellavista whilst on a weeks ski holiday. Whilst winter sports holidays are quite new to her I am a bit more of a veteran having been visiting the mountains since the early 90s. Over the years I have stayed in some very simple places, some very tired places and some really small places, admittedly most of which were in France and not Italy. Some say my views of these types of establishments may be a little tainted from all the rubbish I have seen and perhaps I expect less in some ways but I am pleased to say that the Bellavista is different.
When we arrived at the Bellavista we were given the keys to our room, which was in the main building. Our room was facing the mountains, it had a wrap around balcony, 1 bedroom, kitchen and modest living room with a table and chairs. The apartment was clean and tidy and apart from the TV, which only had 1 english channel, we couldn't fault the place.
We were on a room only basis so ate around town most of the time or cooked in the apartment but one night we ate down in the restaurant. That night it was heaving! As such the service was a little slower than ideal but we weren't in a rush and it really wasn't that long. We could't fault the pizza though when it did turn up.
All in all and for the price we thought the place was very good and would return if back in Livigno.

Just returned from a a week skiing in living, having booked without really knowing what to expect. The Bellavista exceeded our expectations. 5 of us shared a two bedroom apartment which was very clean, very warm, and had a balcony facing the mountains. The apartment was a little small however we didn't spend much time in there but it was more than adequate.
The best bit about the Bellavista was the great choice of the evening menu, if you can't find something you like then don't go to Italy as it was authentic Italian cooking. As previously mentioned in reviews there was lots of choice, we payed 11euros to upgrade to half board which was worth every penny, so half board is a must. After starter you could have sirloin steak, chicken veal in sauce and then a dessert which had bailyes, whiskey or ameretto poured over, what more can you want ????
Staff were pleasant and helpful, after my son broke his arm on the slopes they sent him a pizza / ice cream to his room late after service time.
The skiing was great 50 m from doss18, however the snow was a little thin on the ground but to be expected in March.
Anyone who complains about this place for the price needs have a word with themselves, we will definitely return. We booked through inghams who were also extremely helpful !!!

My partner and I have just returned from a fantastic week at the Bellavista Residence, Livigno.

We booked through Inghams, half board.

to start with, a couple of the negatives..... (just to get them out of the way):

It's a bit of a trek from Innsbruck Airport - took about 3 hours, but the drive is very nice with some great scenery. We flew in from Birmingham and landed just before lunch time, so got to Livigno late afternoon - enough time to sort out ski passes, ski hire etc. The journey back to Bham is another story though - the flight leaves Innsbruck at 0815hrs, so you get picked up from the Bellavista at 0130hrs - ouch.... although it wasn't too bad, as we managed to sleep a little on the coach.

As Rich said, breakfast is a bit limited, but pleasant enough.

now for the positives......

rooms - very clean, with good facilities... TV, kitchen area (fridge, hob, micro, kettle, etc), good sized bathroom, lounge (with 2x pull out single beds), and a separate double bedroom - with a large, comfy double bed. Our room didn't have a blacony, but others did - maybe the 2x bedroom apartments?

food - we went half board, for 11Euro per person per day - which is very good value. The food is excellent, with a wide choice.

Rocco & Ivana in the bar / restaurant are great - very helpful, very friendly & always pleased to see you, even on busy nights.

The hotel is on the main road (not busy), with a few decent bars nearby, and about 15-20 min walk into the town centre - which is very nice. The ski bus stops about 30m away - which takes you to ski lifts on both sides of the valley. Alternatively, you can walk up to the San Rocco lift, about 75m away, and ski the blue down to the Carosello 3000 gondola.

The snowfall hasn't been the best this year, but they did a great job of grooming the pistes - which were great in the morning, but tended to get a bit slushy in the afternoon - normal for the end of March.

The amount of skiing in the area is a bit limited, but for beginners & intermediates, it's ideal. The lifts are generally very good, but a couple of the older ones could do with upgrading.

As for costs, i would say in general it's a good value resort, 3-5 Euro for a pint, 7-9 Euro for a pizza in town, 7 Euro for spag-bol; 3 Euro for a coffee at the top of the Motollino gondola. Some decent shops, and tax free gives some extra savings... although the clothes seemed expensive by UK standards, aftershaves / perfumes were good value.

on the whole, a great holiday, great resort, great hotel.

A holiday is always a matter of personal experience, and my experience is very different from the previous reviewer who awarded two stars.

I'm currently sat in my room in the Bellavista residence, using the free wifi, having skied all day, just waiting to be able to go down for supper in the lovely restaurant. This is my fifth skiing holiday in different places and the food here is second to none. At other skiing places I've always had the canteen style buffet, which has always been fine, but in Bellavista you are presented with a menu, with a choice of maybe 20 starters, including any of the pasta main meals which can be had as a starter and perhaps the same number of mains, including pizza, pasta and many other dishes. Each one that we have tried has been wonderful. The service in the restaurant has been excellent and the staff have very good English, but I always think that if you try just a little Italian (This is Italy, after all!) then you will really see the great welcome and sense of humour that is there.

If I have to give anything negative, then the breakfast is a little limited, and some of the drinks are a little expensive, but nothing to worry about

Our room was immaculately clean, the beds comfortable and with very efficient heating (I had to open the windows to cool the room down to sleep) and hot water. We have a fridge, a four ring hob and a microwave, and a kettle for that all important hot chocolate.

There is a ski boot room below, and every morning, our boots and gloves are dried and warmed. So that's rather pleasant.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely. No question.

Just back from skiing in Livigno.
Positives were skiing location and lessons with Roberto from Centrale ski school were excellent on both visits. Apres Ski second to none at Carosello 3000. Food at Bellavista is without a doubt the best in town.
Now the negatives...
We were staying in annexe, accommodation very basic, central heating and hot water were not a problem. Beds were very uncomfortable mine having a dip. Furniture was very worn and shabby. My son had a single camp bed with a mattress to sleep on which was in the kitchen .Not good when you are nearly 6 feet! Do'nt think under beds had been cleaned from last season. Small broken portable tv which has seen better days and had virtually no volume. Only a bath with a shower handle , no use for 3 adults living there. Very old fashioned.... We stayed here three years ago and had a fantasic time. Owner seems to have sold his soul to the Euro..... on our last trip we had the same table to go to every night. This time we were moved nearly every night, or kept waiting while walk in customers got preference. On one occasion we were placed at a table given a menu then 10 mins later asked to move while walk ins got a table. We were left standing at the bar for 20 mins until I complained and the staff asked walk ins from another table to leave. On Valentines night the owner offered us a night at a Typical Regional Restaurant and laid on taxi's for us. I would guess about 30 of us from the hotel took up this offer. Firstly the taxis were late and friends were asked to wait outside in the -14 c with 2 children as his restaurant was busy and they were cluttering it up!!!!! When we got to the restaurant the food was take it or leave it. Very poor standard and slow. No facility for vegetarians. We asked for taxis at 9 pm and didnt get one until 11.40. By this stage many of the children were crying or sleeping on the restaurant seats...... When we asked the barman to ring offering him the taxi firm number he looked at it and threw it away.We had basically been forgotten about as the owner of the Bella vista had obviously not arranged our return.... He had shifted all of us that where staying at the Bella vista to fill up with outsiders and make more money. Quite a lot of us complained and some of us staying at the Bellavista were offered an egg at Breakfast as compensation!!! I have no problem with being business minded and creating more opportunities to make money in the short skiing season but not at the cost of his guests..... It is a pity as it used to be a great place. Owner has got too greedy to care any more.!

First time stayed here, but have eaten in the restaurant many times on my visits to livigno.

Booked through inghams uk, centrally located @ 50 yards from doss18, great location.

Allocated apt 09, by livigno standards the apartment was clean, spacious, large bathroom and a bedroom with a double bed, living room, had two sofa beds, flat screen tv with selection of digital tv. Well presented and impressive.

The shower was excellent and central heating was great (if a touch too hot), the ski lockers were spacious, heated and easily accessible.

Meals (booked half board) were outstanding, taken downstairs in Bacchus pub, the restaurant is renowned as one of the best in livigno, the breakfast was standards cereals, yoghurt, ham, cheese, jam, rolls etc, half oars old either be taken as lunch or evening meal, the choice was fabulous, starter, pasta / pizza / main, and dessert, there were at least 10 choices for each course, sirloin steak, chicken, veal, pork, pizza, lasagne, arrabiatta, spagetti, soups, prawn cocktail etc.....absolutely fab.

Looked after by Ivanna who was friendly and very busy running he downstairs eatery.

A hidden treasure, I would not hesitate to book again, best place I have stayed in livigno in 11 visits.

Room Tip: All good no worries
